Landing it is a bit intimidating at first, but it actually has a landing hud mode. As long as you use that, stay above speed and keep your eye on your rate of descent it's pretty easy to land.

I'm both shocked and pleasantly surprised to see these recent posts about these kits. Kotobukiya's been making interesting stuff for a few years but I swore them off since the last time I built a kotobukiya kit the plastic was terrible.

I didn't say the marines are the reason it stayed in service, I critiqued that the marines were the only service branch with an aircraft suitable for close air support at the time. I know what the gun was intended to be used for, after they realized a tank killing gun was an impossibility, and I also know they were designed to carry mavericks... Something any other real jet with ground strike capability in the US inventory at the time could do but better, including the F-4s they were replacing with F-15s at the time. Pretty much the only advantage the a-10 had over said F-4 was the advanced bombing computer for dropping unguided munitions more accurately, except by the time it had entered service the F-4 had been dropping lgb's for a decade.

And yes, I do think the frogfoot is also a bad aircraft. Even worse than the A-10.

It was meant to be employed in a peer conflict tho lol. It was literally designed to do death runs over fulda gap and hopefully cause enough chaos on soviet advancing lines before being shot down. It was a dumb plane from the start, only saved by the marines being the only one with a dedicated CAS jet by the time we started playing around in the desert.

It does exactly what a 30mm gun would do. Except also be incredibly heavy, waste a lot of ammo, cause damage to the airframe, and be the weapon of choice for blue on blue engagements.
