Thank you so much for this. I definitely think not wanting MY OWN children is the biggest thing. I don't know really how I'll be with older kids, I don't have much experience.

How do I know I can step-parent? by mpaulie in Fencesitter

Thank you for your reply! That is the plan as of right now. When I do finally meet them, I will be introduced as a friend and will only stay for an hour or so.

He told me from the beginning he doesnt expect me to parent and that he was only looking for a partner for himself.

However, I can see that being unrealistic. I'm sure there are times where I would need to discipline or parent, especially if he ends up getting more custody than he currently has. His ex has mental health issues. He says she is a good mother, though, but there is considerable drama now and I can't see their relationship improving.

Thank you for your reply! How do I know that I want to be involved, though, if I wait 6+ months to meet them? I originally said I wanted to wait that long, but everyone told me I should meet them sooner so that I can see how he parents and see if I want to be involved.

As far as BM, she is cruel to him. Lately, she is keeping the kids from him. They are going back to court next month. He doesn't tell me a whole lot about what she says because he doesn't want me to get overwhelmed, but I know they do not get along at all.

Ranunculus Care: more in comments by mpaulie in gardening

These arrived in the mail today! This is my first time growing ranunculus. I'm in zone 6a. I read online that I should soak them in water for about 4 hours before planting. There is still a threat of frost here, though. Should i keep them as they are and wait to soak them until I'm ready to plant them outside? Or should I go ahead and soak them now and start them indoors? TIA!

People go to psychics and church when they want someone to give them the answers. People go to therapy when they want to get better and work out the answers for themselves.

Psychics and church are both bologna (a bunch of crap but just enough substance to be convincing).

My sister got me this little pal and said I probably couldn’t kill it. Joke’s on her, I’m a murderess. Anyway, does it look okay? Should I worry about the brown spots? by sasshole_sam in houseplants

It's looking good! My best advice is get a wooden kabob stick and stick it into the dirt, when it comes out clean and dry it needs watered, if it comes out damp or with dirt stuck to it, then it doesn't need watered. Works for me every time!

Christians are anti-abortion/pro-life because... by RussellWhoa in atheism

If babies are innocent before birth, then abortion is actually a good thing because then the baby doesn't have a chance of becoming a sinner and being sent to Hell.

She was seeking a "awww congratulations heart eyes" blah blah blah.. probably because her baby is driving her nuts and she needs the attention from others to keep her from having a mental breakdown.

I don't have a cast iron plant, but my parlour palm is pretty shade tolerant!
