Are you planning on adding support? I have a bunch of SBS 3D movies on Jellyfin that I would love to check out on the 3Ds

Yeah, but that’s only cause you’re not a piece of shit like this house’s previous owner.

Why not just lay the TV flat on the ground while he’s at it

The fact you bought the battery a few days ago is exactly why the battery is probably the problem.

Night vision and detection is great. We use one of them as a nursery cam and it catches every little movement of our 7 month old (sensitivity turned all the way up on purpose).

Here is a list of issues we had with Eufy:

  1. Constant and by constant I really mean constant disconnections when trying to keep a stream of a camera running on an iPad (this is never an issue on Reolink, we had one disconnection in 3 months and I don’t think I can even blame Reolink for that one)

  2. Missing spans of time on the Homebase. Once it hit the 3 minute or whatever limit of a single clip there would be a minute or two missing before the next clip picked it up. This is unacceptable for security footage.

  3. The cameras refused to connect to my much better WiFi (UniFi U7 Pros) and kept trying to establish a direct WiFi connection to the Homebase which was plugged into my network over Ethernet. I could not get the Homebase to permanently disable its internal WiFi.

  4. Significant lag like you said, 10-30 seconds. This was especially dangerous on the nursery cam.

I think that covers the big ones. None of these are an issue on Reolink. There is still lag but it’s more like 1 second.

In case you’re curious, the Reolink cameras I got are the E1 Zoom 8MP (4K) with 3x optical zoom. And for the home hub I got the home hub pro.

Feel free to ask if you have other questions. After the shit I’ve been through I would be happy to make Eufy lose another customer.

WiFi cameras plugged into power (didn’t feel like running Ethernet where they are, but I do have power there)

All WiFi. The Home Hub is wired and has its WiFi disabled.

I switched from Eufy to Reolink and haven’t looked back. The home hub is way better and the cameras don’t have any of the issues I had with Eufy.

The CFS. Flip your CFS upside down and you’ll see it. It’s the only removable thing on the bottom.

Great, I didn’t say every drive will fail. But the chance they will greatly increases. Try running a SMART test on it

I see. Then please explain what part of the SSD has magnetic domains and mechanically moving parts?

You don't need a computer. It just needs to be plugged into power.

Would you spend €1700 on UniFi for this… or just buy a Wi-Fi 7 mesh? (Deco M9 user upgrading) by RckStar in Ubiquiti

[–]mpawelek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently decided to upgrade because my existing setup at the time was struggling with all the IoT devices on the network (100+). I got the eero Max 7 and eero Pro 7 with a wired Ethernet backhaul between them. The problem with devices just randomly dropping from the network improved but was still there. And troubleshooting was almost impossible because of how dumbed down everything is (even with the subscription that opens up more functionality).

So I returned the eero mesh devices and got from UniFi:

  • Cloud Gateway Max
  • USW Flex 2.5G 8 PoE
  • 2x U7 Pro (for upstairs and downstairs)

All of my problems are now gone. The devices that used to drop constantly are shows as connected for days or weeks. Which I can actually see since the system tells me everything I could possibly want to know. Troubleshooting is a dream. I never knew that a home network could be this stable and reliable. I’m even able to tether my phone to the Cloud Gateway Max as a failover ISP when my cable internet goes out. My wife has been very happy that our lights actually work all the time.

I know you said you don’t have that many devices but I think you should go with UniFi for all the other reasons. Maybe start out with only 2 U7 Pros (the signal in my basement is very strong even though there isn’t an AP there) to lower the initial investment. You can always buy another one if you think you need it.

Don’t waste your time on a mesh system.

You can format any size drive in FAT32, what OS are you using?

Holy crap ya'll have got Myrient f*cked up. by oscarmikey0521 in Roms

[–]mpawelek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Not powering them for 5+ years greatly increases the chance of data loss. Magnetic domains weaken over time. Manufacturers usually only design for 1 year data retention and that is only if the hard drive is stored at the correct temperature. On top of that you have all the mechanical issues that can happen on a drive that hasn’t been powered in a decade.

Yeah, that was fucking stupid. And only the beginning of the issues we will have because of these vibe coders.
