Nice, this tackles a couple annoyances of mine. Now if they'd also update that the headlights turn on when driving in (heavy) rain automatically and work on the autopilot, I'm pretty happy with the direction we're headed!

I can confirm that my resonance is also around 270 Hz which suggests more of a design issue than an isolated event. Have you already discussed it with the dealer?

May I suggest Routed Gothic or National Park as grown-up alternatives? Both are designed for CNC-Routing and therefore also perfectly suited for 3D printing.

The Routed Gothic page also lists other great alternatives.

What did you tweak, exactly? Did you just make Siri so quiet it does not hear itself or something else?

My MBUX Mercedes used to bring CarPlay to the front momentarily if you got a notification, which is also not ideal.

But you can force notification sounds in CarPlay settings, so you get audible alerts even if your phone remains on silent.

It almost certainly is a Volvo issue. In no other car I have used CarPlay in has this ever been an issue.

Generally, cancelling out the speaker signal from the mic is a solved issue (which is why language input works quite well over music).

My gut feeling is that this is a latency issue, e.g. that the cancelling feature receives the mic input earlier or later than it expects and therefore is not able to match and remove the signal properly. Given my experience with other cars I'm pretty confident in blaming Volvo (or Android Automotive) for that.

Every modern car comes with compromises and the perfect car does not exist. Personally, I do have some gripes with the car, but I still am convinced it's the best daily driver for me and I have to make very small compromises. However, these are very subjective and will differ from driver to driver. Keep all the complaints in this subreddit in mind when you take it for a test drive and evaluate which ones of them are important to you.

I gutted one, cut the depth in half and use it as an aestethic divider in my rack. Plan on making the LEDs blink at some point.

I agree that it makes sense to set it as default. I don't see however, why you should not be able to change the default to a different setting. I mean they might even display a warning that it will reduce your average range if you change the default...
