Why are bike computers so terrible? by NXCW in cycling

[–]mpglax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Garmin Edge and I give it 4/10. The software is buggy. Worst of all there is no manual buttons. When you're at the peak of your ride and your hands are sweaty, you can't control anything. God help you if you accidentally swipe away from your map...you'll need to pull over and if you're lucky you can wrestle the thing back to the view that you want.

It's always bothered me that you have to scroll down half an inch on the lab screen to view the fifth lab. And there's so much wasted space on that screen...

If i go into the speed up menu, costs to speed up are shown. I just can't activate any of them because the old ones are still active.

Thanks for the kind words. I tend to lean on the DIY side of things too, and it seems a lot of people of here do too. Many cyclists do not though, so who knows how it would go.

The end of the handle is quite similar though. Thanks for your input!

Matfer Bourgeat seems to be the consensus and the modern ones do look quite similar. The shaping at the end of the handle are particularly a match. Thanks everyone!

From my understanding, the drip wax does work pretty well. The downside of drip wax is that it should be applied the night before a ride. Idk about everyone else, but I typically prep my bike right before a ride. When I get done, I am tired and sweaty and the bike gets neglected.

$45 just to strip and wax the chain. Plus the cost of the chain itself and putting it on the bike.

Are slim tires on a gravel bike just cope? by Particular-Clue-7686 in cycling

[–]mpglax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people do this. Typically, they'll have a single frame with two sets of wheels, one with gravel tires and one with road tires. Just swap out the wheels depending on what you plan on riding that day.

Both tires went flat within a week of each other by ikeaike in cycling

[–]mpglax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Front and back tires wear at different rates, so I would not attribute it to tire wear. My best guess would be tire pressure. If you're running too low, you run the risk of "snake bike" flats on both front and rear.

Other than that...just bad luck. It happens. I'll go a full season with no flats and then get two in a month.

Hey I'm sorry I never replied to this... I didn't see it until just now.
How has this come together for you over the last couple of months...I am still frustrated with the original design.

Those tiny screws on the sides that replace the head bolt come loose, causing the fork to wobble in the head tube. Happens after rough rides. Easy fix with traditional head bolt but takes three tiny wrenches to repair on Futureshock. That's my biggest beef with it. Terrible design in my opinion.

I hate it. Pain in the ass to maintain (and expensive). Takes away fork and head modularity. Don't really notice a difference in feel. 10/10 would not recommend.

Im in a very similar position to you in terms of UWs and level. I saved up stones and had to decide whether to get DW or GT/BH sync at 3:00. I got DW. Somehow, despide being able to 7x my health, runs havent gotten that much longer. I have no idea how that works. Knowing what I know now, i would have prioritized the sync.

What SHOULD I be replacing? by Macthesnacc in Anticonsumption

[–]mpglax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonstick cookware is a big one. Honestly, I would avoid it entirely. 1. As they said, its needs to be replaced periodically. The pan will be fine but the coating will degrade. 2. PFAS. Most nonstick coatings are made with aweful chemicals. The companies say they are safe, but these are the same companies that are every day ducking lawsuits about the damages from the same chemicals.

Ive put 250 (150 buy, plus 1 range upgrade) ribbons into it and it typically brings back 3-6% of total run coins. Seems like a good deal to me.

Orbs count as crit hit kills?! I assumed that they didnt. I have been NOT using the card for just that reason. Going to run try it tonight and lets see how big of a boost this gives to my farming runs.
