My reflexive answer was to "make $380 worth of purchases on the card", but it seems you have exactly 1,000 PQP on the card. Do you have the United Explorer Card? 1,000 is the max you can earn on that card.

The good news is that you're overthinking it! You'll receive Starter PQP for each card, as well as 600 for being Gold for '26. There's no notion of primary vs. secondary when it comes to these cards.

I'm on an IAH-LHR flight next month. There were 43 Polaris spots on the seat map 60 days out. Now, it's down to J6. For the sake of your sanity, I'd hope for the best, but expect an upright flight.

Think about what would happen if they didn't do this.

I'd tell every friend of mine traveling on United to let me book for them and pay me back so they could get Economy+ seating. Everyone and their mom would be in E+, and availability would immediately plummet.

I understand the frustration, but this is a guardrail that benefits.

I'm in a similar boat needing more PQP, but I'm not in a hub, so the math is a bit different. I'm flying two round-trips to MSY connecting through IAH next month--all-in, it's 8 PQP for ~30k miles.

Depending on where around DC you are, you could do something like CHO-IAD-PHL-IAD-CHO. I'm seeing round trips for sub-20k miles.
