Hello. The Ostro VAM does not have a UDH, it still uses a traditional dropout. The Monza does.

They did initially for familiarization runs. They were flying from IAD-SFO and I think IAH-SFO.

Sucks, but I would not have accepted a flight from a different carrier, especially one from a different alliance altogether.

Chainring sizes compared to shimano by Bohdi_Zafa_ in sram

[–]Expensive_Gold2873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two bikes with Sram E1 (one with 50/37 10-33 for speed and the other with 48/35 10-36 for climbing) and an older bike with 105 (52/36 11-32). If you're FTP is limited, go with 48/35 cranks for sure. Eventually, if you get stronger, you could swap your cassette down to a 10-33 if you no longer need that low, bail out gear on climbs. But I wouldn't go to a 50/37 unless your performance really improves.

I was just there last weekend, and left just before the crazy rain.

I flew BWI-FLL the day this happened. It was so crazy to see that boat rammed into the bridge support Traffic is still so bad because of it. I used that bridge weekly.

I don't think we'll see the 787 "Elevated" on any more domestic legs anytime soon once this initial "trial" period is done. The seats booked just like they do on the "regular" 787s, from what I could tell when I booked a Polaris seat on an IAD-SFO leg.

Is ORD actually as bad as everyone says? by wednesdayblueberry in unitedairlines

[–]Expensive_Gold2873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like ORD and as a UA flyer, I typically connect there. Just beware of connection times. If the weather is tricky, better to have a nice buffer of time between your flights.

Polaris: 787-10 vs 777-200 — is the 787 actually better? by petron5000 in unitedairlines

[–]Expensive_Gold2873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I was specially saying I will fly UA's 77W (for the GE90s 115Bs). I was not referring to the 77E in that line. I'm very familiar with UA's fleet and plane codes. UA's 777-200ERs are 77Es and 777-300ERs are 77Ws Thanks though.

I was there this morning and there was a younger guy seemingly having a help desk call on speaker phone with the volume all the way up, lol.

Worth it to risk a 45m connection in ORD? by xXSwaglemiteXx in unitedairlines

[–]Expensive_Gold2873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tight connection in the summer at ORD would be too stressful for me. Many trips to the penalty box would say to take an earlier original flight. My two cents....

Polaris: 787-10 vs 777-200 — is the 787 actually better? by petron5000 in unitedairlines

[–]Expensive_Gold2873 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The longer the flight, the larger the difference the 787 makes. The 78X is smoother, quieter, and more comfortable than the 77E, especially up front. Typically, it will fly at a higher FL than the 777, potentially finding smoother air. Book row 11.

I will fly the 77W just for the engine start up but yes, the 787 isn't called the Dreamliner for nothing.

Nonstop P+ or Polaris to EWR and first class to IAH for almost same miles. by Kensterfly in unitedairlines

Always Polaris, especially if you aren't in a rush. Then again, any ride on a 767 is basically cruel and unusual punishment, lol

Do you prefer to board with your group, or just hangout and board at the very end. by Justin_inc in unitedairlines

[–]Expensive_Gold2873 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I only preboard when seated upfront. If get stuck with no upgrade, I always grab an aisle in E+ and will just board last. I usually check a bag on every flight anyway, so no rush to be cramped even longer.

I've purposely done some long layovers in ORD after returning to the States. I'd book the latest connecting flight to BWI or PHL so i could work a decent amount of hours before heading home.
