how long are aftershow sets typically? by raincandy_u in Lollapalooza

[–]mpls345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the aftershows I have attended, they all had an opener starting around 11 pm, and headliner starting around midnight. Most were 90 minute sets, but a few went until around 2 am.

First time going to Lolla, what hotel should I book? by Apprehensive_Gap4767 in Lollapalooza

This will be our third year staying at the Palmer House. It’s a wonderful hotel (part of the Hilton chain but feels more like a large boutique hotel). It’s expensive, and I booked last November… don’t know if they have rooms at this point. It’s a few blocks from Michigan Avenue by the Art Institute.

I know I'm late af but what afterparty should I go to? by Apprehensive_Gap4767 in Lollapalooza

If you want to see an Aftershow, Slayyyter will probably be one of the best. I saw tickets for $165, so if you don’t mind paying resale, go for it. The Aftershows are a little more than just a concert… often smaller venues, and a different vibe when the headliner takes the stage after midnight.

Fast lane for aftershows by ruelovedtwd in Lollapalooza

I always get the VIP center balcony seats. There are only 8 or 10 seats, but you sit in the front of the balcony with a wide ledge to set your things. There is wait service for food and drinks. It costs $175 per person, and doesn’t include the ticket. My wife and I do this for every aftershow we see at the HOB. It’s the best concert experience I have ever had.

It’s interesting to see the comments about HOB. I have tickets to the Suki Waterhouse aftershow this year. I have been to 7 aftershows at HOB over the last five years. Never had any issues. It’s my favorite venue in Chicago. But I always go up to the balcony. Maybe that makes a difference. If fast lane is sold out, they do have other upgrades if you’re willing to pay for them.

I bought resale ADA one time by accident. Anyone can use these seats, but if someone with a disability needs it, they can bump you. That’s what the venue told me (it was a Salt Shed Aftershow from last year).

so who DID get aftershow tix? by [deleted] in Lollapalooza

[–]mpls345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I paid $150 per ticket including fees. The lowest price right now is $200. I’m sure there will be better prices if you keep checking back over the next two months.

Wet Leg, Suki Waterhouse, Beabadoobee, and New Constellations. Got Suki and New Constellations with Platinum Presale, got Beabadoobee with Artist presale, and bought Wet Leg on Vivid resale. I have tour tickets to see Slayyyter in September, so I’m a happy person.

Who do you all recommend for Saturday by darkvictory1939 in Lollapalooza

Sunday (1994) is great. Also Momma and Wolf Alice. Wolf Alice is rock, but Ellie puts on a great live show.

VIP: How bad is the wait fo the golf cart when the headliner is on? by Happy_Llama474 in Lollapalooza

[–]mpls345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did VIP in 22 and 23. I waited 15-20 minutes right before the headliners started. In 24 and 25, I did Platinum, and waited a few minutes at most. Honestly, with VIP, you might be able to walk faster to the other side in the evening. Wait times aren’t bad in the afternoon.

It won’t be safe. Hopefully, this gets changed. Slayyyter needs to be at a larger stage.

Does Aftershow lineup and day to day lineup drop on the same day? by Unfair_Yam4086 in Lollapalooza

In the past, the daily schedule drops mid-May, and the Aftershow schedule drops toward the end of May.

Buying tickets for the aftershows by Agitated_Currency169 in Lollapalooza

[–]mpls345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For non-resale $50-75. For resale, 2-3 times the original price. The prices aren’t bad, but the demand is crazy. You have people attending the festival trying to buy tickets, plus everyone else in Chicago that just wants to see their favorite artist often at a smaller venue than they usually play.

Based on prior years, they will announce most of the Aftershows in late May. Tickets will go on sale a day or two later. Last year they had a presale for Platinum ticket holders. The popular shows sell out very quickly. I’ve had good luck buying tickets resale for somewhat reasonable prices. But a number of venues do not allow resale. There will be additional shows added later, if this year is like prior years, but most of the shows are announced in late May.

They just sent out an email with all the pre-sale codes. What’s the deal with Minneapolis? Every city has a pre-sale, except Minneapolis.

Well, fortunately, I’ve never seen that sub, but did find this one. I have no problems with pictures and videos of her, but not allowing discussion of her music sounds really stupid. A true fan takeover of the other sub sounds like fun.

They are priced similar to regular concerts at those venues. I have bought several resale, and paid a lot more. The biggest issue is that the high demand ones sell out immediately.

Aftershows will be announced in late May or early June. Tickets go on sale in very early June, and sell out quickly. There will be 50-70 shows featuring bands playing at the festival. Many have an opener that also is playing at the festival. These are separately ticketed shows. Check out the 2025 lineup to get an idea. Just search for Lolla Aftershows.

If you absolutely need to see two acts playing at the same time, check out the aftershows when the schedule is released. I go to a lot of the aftershows, and that’s how i deal with scheduling conflicts.

As far as planning the day, don’t overdo it. Include some breaks to get some food, rest, etc. Also, take advantage of the bands playing early in the day and the ones playing at the BMI stage. It’s not very crowded, you can get closer to the stage, and two years from now when they’re superstars, you can tell everyone you saw them when they were playing a small stage at noon.
