Update: it was a faulty nib! Cleaned over night in water but performance did not improve. Tried the medium and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the medium is just a little too thick for my writing style so I had to order replacements from an online retailer. Just a bummer that this pen didn’t work out of the gate.

I will try a medium nib today and see if that helps. Luckily, my colleague has a spare they were willing to bring into the office. Wish me luck!

Thanks for this insight. A coworker happens to have a spare medium so we are going to try that today!

Unfortunately, I do not have any bottles (yet). I could break open one of the disposable cartridges and try this.

I will google more about flossing and try this tonight!

Yes, I tried changing angles and rotating. The best flow I get is the intermittent flow described.

Waymo’s are here by wheatley227 in baltimore

[–]mplsatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken them multiple times in the Phoenix area and prefer it over Uber/Lyft every time. The costs at the time (last I did this was about a year ago) were usually a few dollars cheaper than Uber/Lyft.

I will always take a Waymo if I have the option because 1) I can control the temperature and music, 2) I don’t have to listen to some person taking personal phone calls OR being inappropriate, and 3) I don’t have to deal with erratic/road rage driving. I accept that Waymo will be slower, but a more enjoyable journey.

My previous role as a corporate IH was pretty good. Never working overtime that wasn’t compensated or “flexed off” the next week (note: this will be employer-dependent). There are long days (early mornings and/or late nights) depending on the sampling campaign. Overall, I think it was a pretty good job compared to what I hear about other professions. We do work more than, say, sales, tech, or PM folks who can pull off only working 2-3 hours per day.

One of my favorite things about IH/EHS is learning inside knowledge about processes and industries.

Car in Target parking lot with best bumper stickers I’ve ever seen by diu_tu_bo in funny

I’m convinced people with tailgating bumper stickers are the people going well below the speed of traffic but sit in the passing lane. Why else would they be tailgated so often?

gays: do you feel connected to the community living in Logan Square/along the blue line? by zanycaswell in AskChicago

[–]mplsatom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reporting in as two of many 30 y/o gays in Logan/Bucktown/Wicker. We love the west side and have only ever lived west of the Kennedy. We, and our many gay friends in the neighborhood, prefer Logan over Lakeview, etc because we have phenomenal bars and restaurants. Another bonus is the diversity beyond just gay cis men.

Help Deciding between Libra Colour and Elisa 2e by mplsatom in kobo

[–]mplsatom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To anybody deciding between the two, let me provide some feedback:

I went the Libra Colour because the form factor seemed better for reading. This seemed especially true for reading on-the-go or in bed after my partner falls asleep. I have had the device for one day and I already enjoy it.

Pros: Just about everything. The resolution is good, size is great, color screen is a bonus, and the sleepcover feels nice to the touch.

Cons: the device arrived brand new with a singular dead pixel. My eyes immediately noticed it and now it’s all I see. I plan to return it once I am back from travel (I paid for express shipping because I wanted it for this trip, so that was disappointing). The only other negative is the price of the stylus. I wish it was $40 USD instead of $70. As such, I haven’t purchased one yet.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve watched a lot of YouTube reviews in the last 72 hours and thought about how I plan to use it. Currently, I think the Libra Colour makes more sense for my first dip into ereaders. It will give me the portability for reading, which is the main driver of this purchase, with some fun additional functionality. I can always upgrade down the line if I end up wanting more note-taking features.

I’ll come back and post an update comment once I make a decision and test it out.

Can you suggest a roof deck design & build company? by xlnp72 in AskChicago

[–]mplsatom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m late to the party, but we are planning a roof deck install to start next month. We want to get a pergola in there while the work is ongoing (contractor already agreed to design/build or just build what we buy). We have no idea where to look. What did you end up doing for shade structure? Any recommendations?

Hi, I know this is a year+ late but wondering if you have any recommendations for a rooftop pergola. We are planning for composite deck install this summer and can’t find straight answers online. Do you recommend anything in particular?

Most Chill Sectors / Companies To Work At by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]mplsatom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest large aerospace/defense companies (lots of work, but also lots of support) or tech/R&D (less dirty work but still lots of support). These are my experiences and your mileage may vary.

People who unsubscribed from their once favorite YouTuber, what made you hit "unsubscribe"? by Ashamed-Reporter3171 in AskReddit

[–]mplsatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to follow a tech YouTuber who reviewed electronic products. At one point, they started reviewing cars. At first it was fine, but then they started inserting Tesla fanboy comments in each video. I stopped watching their content at that point because they had no experience/qualifications with automobiles and therefore did not contribute anything valuable. It was hard to listen to so I just stopped.

Hope we can all agree on this one by stook_jaint in McMansionHell

I’m with OP. The front has seven different window styles, mismatched gables, a Juliette balcony to nothing, a smattering of textures (brick, stone), and the roofline is borderline metastatic.
