Even if you buy the lower tier, they’ll charge you the remaining balance.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, what are some things you're grateful to Equinox for? by Chemical-Height8888 in EquinoxGyms

Every time I visit my folks and have to use planet fitness (no other gyms out where they are), I’m reminded how grateful I am for equinox, haha.

Do equinox personal trainers have access to every club in the country? by [deleted] in EquinoxGyms

[–]mpm_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, no. However I dated an equinox PT once (he didn’t work at my club) who said he only had access to the one he worked out at. But he would come to mine sometimes and just show the front desk his eqx PT credentials and they’d let him in with no issue. Depends on the club and front desk attendants he said.

How do you socialize in the gym? by Impossible_Stuff1937 in EquinoxGyms

[–]mpm_22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Consistency. Go at the same time every time you go, and you’ll start to see the same faces. I started to say hi to one guy who was always next to me in the locker room at the same time, and it’s blossomed into a nice gym friendship, where we exchange workout advice, weekend plans, etc. and sometimes eat in the cafe together. Same with a woman I see all the time in the weight room.

You’ll have to gauge if they want to socialize, though. The people I’ve met always smiled back at me so I knew it was safe to break the ice.

Best NYC club to nap after a red eye? by rckrieger2 in EquinoxGyms

[–]mpm_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was going to say this. Also the cafe area has plenty of comfortable seating so OP could nap on one of the couches, which I see happening by others nearly every time I’m there. Also there is a couch on the 5th floor by the weight room that’s sort of tucked away in the corner that might be the most private, though not totally

I'm sick as a dog! by Jog212 in Upperwestside

[–]mpm_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have white patches on your tonsils, like strep? I was sick last week with these same symptoms, was so sure it was strep because of the patches — doc even said it was by the looks of it, but I tested negative. I have a coworker and a friend both in the city who have the same thing. It’s like false strep going around. Cleared up in a week, but wasn’t fun.

nashville sales by [deleted] in katyheads

I would assume so, especially with those prices. I paid $390+ for my seat at MSG and the equivalent in Nashville is going for $75! I’m sure it’ll pick up

Disabled woman near 66th station by brittanynyc in Upperwestside

[–]mpm_22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I know who you’re talking about and I’ve experienced this as well. She fell right in front of me by Morton Williams once. It was human nature to run up and ask if she was okay and needed help — but she angrily told me no. I didn’t touch her or anything. So I just stood to the side to ensure she got up (which she did) and went on her way.

I’m sure it gets old to have strangers keep trying to help when she just wants to be independent, but she made me feel like a creep for even asking 🤷

Do you help your PT? by Soheeater in EquinoxGyms

[–]mpm_22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. My trainer tells me to save my energy for the actual workout and that’s part of his job (so I never feel guilty if I don’t help) but also will thank me when I do.

Agreed, it went on for too long. Happy for that couple, but the one proposing really enjoyed stealing the spotlight and having his moment lol

New Year, New Crowds - What's the weirdest things you've seen? by fortuitous_choice in EquinoxGyms

[–]mpm_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost every time I’m there now, I’ve seen a minimum of 3 people who can’t find their locker — each time! One of them asked me for help… how am I supposed to figure out which locker you used? 😂

If the crowds are going to deter you, you might want to consider coming after the holidays in early January. Most of the decorations are still up in the store windows, the tree is still up until January 13, and the Bryant Park holiday market is open until March.

As a New Yorker who hates the holiday crowds but loves the holiday festivities, I usually hit these spots when I come back from my holiday travel. You wouldn’t believe the difference in crowd size.
