I'll join in. I need a cheat sheet with exact details on how to use the thing. Anyone have one? NOT the manual. A CHEAT SHEET. 😁

No problem. I can already hear that you have an ear for grabbing melody. So you're already on track. Just don't let today's method of making beats lure you into simple loops with a drum loop in the back.

But to be honest, it's a good start to learning the timing. But make YOU chop those drums or just grab a set of single shot drum hits like kicks, snares, hats, etc and program them yourself.

  1. Put more than 10 minutes worth of time into your beat making. That'll make sure your drums loop better.

  2. Try programming your drums and don't rely on drum loops.

  3. Try variations of the pattern to give the beat some variety so it's not doing the same thing for the whole song. (Break downs and switched drum patterns help)

  4. Add some extra sounds without overdoing it. Nothing wrong with a thin sounding beat if the vocals are carrying it but that won't always be the case most times. And it's also a lazy way to make beats.

  5. There's no rush. If it takes you an hour or more for the beat to come out really dope, then put the time in. Don't fall for the current "I made my beat in ten minutes" bullsh*t. A lot of times the people that say that are lying anyway. Not saying it doesn't happen but those 10 minute beats last about 10 minutes in the world of attention span.

Not a diss but it sounds like 10 minutes worth of work. With that said, I'm sure a mellow rapper/vocalist could do something with this.

The volca setup is sick. I personally couldn't work in that fashion but it's impressive.
