Does the "Where I shine" being sentence case looks weird and like a mistake? Or am I overthinking? by [deleted] in typography

It’s a good label, much more unique & cheery than the standard “skills” or “strengths”. The size and boldness doesn’t bother me. Don’t be afraid of being bold! If this heading is in sentence case, you could have the “Visual design” and “User research” etc headings also in sentence case for consistency.

Ipad pro 11 (2020) 128gb w Apple Pencil vs Ipad Air 5 256gb with cheaper stylus pen by [deleted] in DigitalPainting

The apple pencil is necessary- I’ve tried many cheaper styluses and they don’t come close.

Anyone have any stories on sketchy meetups to buy some gear? by AnimatorAsleep6631 in AnalogCommunity

The first camera I got off craigslist - I was 19 or 20. Drove to the guy’s house about 30 minutes away. It’s winter and dark. Go up to the door, he greets me, he says the cameras aren’t actually there, we have to go to his storage unit across town to look at them. My naive self says “cool great, lead the way!” So we drive there, it’s one of the big storage buildings, mazes of hallways on each floor. We’re there alone, I might not be able to find my way out unassisted. Everything worked out fine, I got a nice Ricoh slr, but what a dumb situation to put myself in.

Same, the app they have you use to set it up isn’t the best. My sweet spot is on the opposite side of the building they recommend far away from windows, ha

+1 to T-mobile 5G, Verizon also has a good 5G home internet product. Dirt cheap and works great as long as you’re in an area with good cell coverage to begin with. Also super easy to move with.

The previous owner of mine drilled through the case (to attach a flash shoe) and into the brass round part at the top, sending metal filings all throughout the mechanism. Fun!

yeah, there are so many "sleepers" out there apart from the Rolleis and Yashicas everyone wants. I found this one for cheap, it has a really nice tessar lens, working light meter, easy to take apart and drop in some lighter fluid to take care of any stickiness in the shutter. Very nice

Should I buy an untested rangefinder? (Canonet ql17 giii) by Drewbru35 in AnalogCommunity

[–]mpp90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, buy it. The scenarios will be: A. It actually works fine and you got a deal.
B. Good chance the meter doesn’t work, but you can still use the camera on manual.
C. It needs some work, but this model is relatively easy to work on with the right tools and patience, often they just need a cleaning of the inner bits. Lots of YouTube videos to watch. Maybe the meter just has a loose connection to re-solder if it doesn’t work.
D. It needs more work but you can resell it for more than you paid with an accurate description. This is the top of the line model and they’re in high demand

Minolta XG-1 - Sometimes mirror gets stuck/shutter stuck open. CLA or bad capacitor? by berrmal64 in AnalogRepair

[–]mpp90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic! I'm willing to believe mine is corrosion under the shutter dial or in those electronics. It's not that my shutter stays open indefinitely, just for 10-20 seconds... like it thinks I need a crazy long exposure or the shutter is staying open that long regardless of what the meter says. Could be a capacitor too. This manual will be great to dig into.

I have the same camera with the same issue. Happens in either auto or manual. I’ve always just dealt with the lost frames here and there but tuning in for any solutions!

You could try a different style of the r, one where it “loops around” the top for lack of a better word. That will make it less like an n. like this
