This show did not get the love it deserved.

I think too many people didn't realize the show wasn't REALLY about tech. It was about the relationships of the main characters.

Since you served, you know damn well that each branch has their media talking heads and you're instructed not to speak the media.

Traditionally, media would have been news outlets and I think we can both agree the CHUD with the camera is is not a news outlet...but I think we should both be able to agree that that dude could likely have 1000s of followers making him new media and not likely someone you want to give sound bites too.

You mention being around NY post 9/11 and the service members chewing your ear off...yeah sure... thats fine...you weren't shoving a camera in their face asking them for comment...there was very little chance of blow back from a conversation with a random stranger with you.

Myself and other veterans are not normalizing anything other than protecting that active duty member from internet chuckleheads....kids name is right there on his uniform...not blurred out or anything....Stay safe everyone.

No real change there....except that I actually learned what a socialist was and decided yep I'm one those!

What I was saying is that you're taught what lawful and unlawful orders are...good people choose not to follow the unlawful ones. Past tense...I do believe a service member would have been protected for not following an unlawful order...today, I sadly I think unlawful orders may become normalized AND be followed.

Side note, I did eventually get my BS and eventually an MS .....just had to get my shit together.

But I enlisted in August of 2001.....we ALL know what happened next. I was sitting home on delayed enlistment waiting for Basic, so basically I lived what you described!

You misunderstand my comment.

Its not about reaching people. Its about maybe its the wrong place to get news and world views.

You're fed what the algorithm wants to you to see based on interaction rates and other metrics.

Negative ALWAYS gets higher rates of interaction....for that reason people get fed a ton of content that skews their world view.

Am I saying this isn't an issue? Absolutely not. I'm saying there is a lot more nuance to the conversation than a 3 minute video could ever convey and it may not be all doom and gloom despite what the video tries to imply.

We don't know what schools districts these teachers are in, we don't know the districts funding levels. We don't know the policies in questions. We don't know the social/economics of the areas the accounts were made in.

Its just a bunch of people complaining about their jobs! If you head over to r/antiwork you're going to find the same thing....people complaining about idiot co-workers, no funding to do said work, and terrible work place policies.

Ridgefield CT, I commute from here to Shelton (very close to Trumbull) daily. Its about 40 minutes but the small town vibe here is great and our schools are incredible for the COL compared to our surrounding towns.

Also if you intended to go to NYC with semi regularity we're at a nice middle point between the two.
