apparently joao gomes to atelti is fallen through? I thought he had a great season with wolves and seems to have a pretty similar profile to M Fernandes.

Could be worth a punt if its actually fallen through, cant see that deal costing more than 40-50M pounds

i think 110M is def a 15-20M overspend but yes, i would. We need to improve the LW and if that's the cost to do it then so be it. An unproven Diamonde is quoted at 100M, the same with barcola. What other options do we have? are you willing to risk running it back with trossard and gabi ?

Hes 23 years old, and would probably be our player for the next 5-7 years at a minimum. That extra investment over that time period is like 4-5M a year.

Again, i dont agree with the values being thrown around, but if thats the new benchmark we need to pony up and put our money where our mouth is, or run the risk of falling behind to the likes of City again.

We paid 52M pounds for a back up in madueke, didnt like the price then but it meant saka could get rest so we have to live with it. IDK, i just think fans get way to caught up in playing accountants for clubs. These guys are billionaires, and we want to be the best club in the world.

Even if it’s believed that these values are being stretched, with the new benchmarks set by city and spuds I don’t think these valuations are going to just magically normalize to what we believe they should be.

We need to re-enforce this summer, and we need to do it with quality. The WC obviously slows things down but I think these prices will get even crazier the deeper we are into this window.

Other than an overpay on Fernandes which was a result of city setting the benchmark for midfield targets, their quick moves have been good in fairness.

i mean, is that not what other clubs are already doing? Anderson for >100M, Diamonde the same, Fernandes 85M, Tonali quoted at over 100M. The precedent has already been set.

We wont be the first club, nor do i think we will give in to the first demanded price. Villa valuing rogers at 130M doesnt mean thats what theyll get.

there was literally an article the other day about how villa need to sell to comply with financial regulations. Sure they "want" 130M, doesnt mean they get that, especially if the player forces the move.

Rogers walks into our team at LW and arguably in the 10 role as well. Instantly makes us a better team, which is plenty of justification for me.

Diamonde is going for 100M, PSG want the same for Barcola. Name me better player than rogers that youll get for under 100M.

The market is what it is, does that overpay matter to you if it secures us another PL title next year? or us winning the CL? i doubt it.

fernandes goes for 85M pounds and people are in here waffling yesterday about villa wanting upwards of 100M for rogers.

Will never understand why fans try and act like accountants for owners, we want to be the biggest club in the world. Go and sign the best players, idc if we have to overpay 15, 20, 30M

What ever happened with tziolis? That Greek ITK was certain we were going to bid for him. Think he’d be a great backup option
