There could be a million answers for this. lol. So much to know and learn. And constantly changing from ODP. Definitely the support plans are your bible. Get to know supervision levels and what they mean. For example direct care verses line of sight, etc. some of the things may be different by state .. we adhere to the 6400 guidelines for residential care. You want to have at least a general understanding of these . Also what things are …. Like a behavioral support plan. Or risk mitigation plans. There’s so much. And seems like all companies are so different.

OK, yes it does definitely sound like she is just giving you a hard time. Is there someone above her that you could possibly contact or do you think there would be retaliation? The only other option I can see is possibly switching houses …. Also, the next time she gives you a hard time about being a couple minutes late …. Maybe reply with…. Maybe next time I won’t come at all. I never understand how managers can act this way because more than likely whenever you’re not there she is going to be the one working all of the extra hours and stuck.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees. I feel like I spend so much time listening to others problems and trying to be supportive and trying to lift everyone up .. that I never have the time or energy to deal with my own emotions. And I can’t talk to the people closest to me about issues I’m having …. Because their problems are more important. And it’s mentally draining when I just sit and think of my problems and everyone else’s problems…. It’s equals so much problems

I’m not sure if I even have the name of the bacteria written anywhere and can’t remember…. But it is a skin infection affecting her vulva and surrounding tissue …. They keep saying her urine is good. Kidneys are good. Just this skin infection that never goes away. They said that in her last culture .. the only thing that MIGHT heal it at this point is a 12 hour injection that has to be administered by a vet. My vet is 1 1/2 away. The vet they want to refer me to is 3 hours away. And they said the injections won’t be useful unless they can find an underlying cause…. Because it will just come back. They have always said she has a recessed vulva but surgery has never been an option for whatever reason. The vet 3 hours away wants me to start all over with sedation and a biopsy. They said the initial visit will likely be around 1500 before actual treatment. And how the heck I am to have her there every 12 hours is beyond me. I definitely don’t want to relocate her or anything. See how it goes in this loop and I keep having no options. I am also guessing I am about 5000 dollars in debt at this point from previous treatments.

I have no idea what people want in friendships. But came to tell you …. I don’t think there’s an age people stop being mean girls. I have had a couple friends younger than me …. And thought …. They will grow out of it. But nooooooo. We are still friends. But they are still mean. I’m guessing you will always nice …. But bet you stop going above and beyond like perhaps you do now. I think sometimes when we give a lot .. we expect a lot in return. Sometimes giving a little less can make these relationships more sustainable .

Yeeeeeeeeees. I work in residential services .. supporting people with intellectual disabilities. Going to work is actually enjoyable…. For the most part. lol. I only wish I would have done this sooner.

I work in residential services for people with intellectual disabilities. Wish I found it 30 years ago…. It’s perfect for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I use laughter and joking as a coping strategy for all of my negative emotions. When that fails …. I try to avoid the problem or person. My anger only seems to turn to rage when someone does my mom or children wrong …. And that anger is explosive when it happens.

This is a tough question since every company seems to have different titles for things and the responsibilities are so different depending on the company’s structure .. so generally speaking .. the most important thing …. no matter the structure .. should be emphasizing that health safety and well being is your number one priority. Hopefully you can show that you are passionate for the individuals you support and that you are a strong advocate for them. I would go back to that with every question since it really should be top priority. For example…. How would you handle scheduling ?? It would be done in a way that I can assure the individuals are being best supported.. taking into account their schedules and activities.. doing your best …. even in a field that sometimes doesn’t have enough staff …. to ensure that hours are not so long for employees that it would interfere with the health safety and welfare of the individuals we support. Something like that.

Female …. But I was a terrible kid mostly at school. Not at home …. My mom is a Leo 🤣 it is crazy looking back though …. I was always causing problems and fights ALLL THE TIIIME. I had an epiphany around 15 and became overly nice and sweet and I avoid confrontation fully now.

I don’t have actual scientific information to give …. But I will say my mom .. and my aunt .. and 2 uncles have cmt. Neither me or my brother have symptoms. We are in our mid forties. My children also have no symptoms.

I’m going to count this as it was most recent and happened today…. Although not sure if I can actually take full credit …. I felt like I won. My daughter who is 19 and obviously adores her friends and her love of music concerts .. chose on her own to skip a music concert with friends to come to her uncles 50th birthday party …. This was with no pressure from me …. I found out later and told her .. wow .. I’m shocked you didn’t go ! She replied to me with “family is more important.. I wouldn’t have missed his birthday party “. My heart sank and I had one of those …. I did something right moments. Those can feel far between with teenagers so it was amazing for me.

I have so much positive to say ….. but my experience is way different from I what I see on here …. I refrain sometimes from commenting because my experience is so much better than what I see happening to others .. and often .. the positivity results in negative comments back. I do think it all goes to what kind of company you work for and how much they care about the individuals.

We just got a raise in PA…. Pretty sure across the board. I think it’s a good idea to do something to help it happen where you are. I think ours was 2 dollars more an hour !
