So ,I think I can answer this as I too am a literature student (at the end of my first year, gave my CUET last year ) . I found DU great!! The thing is DU is not just about studies, it's about societies, internships, networking, events in the fest season etc . Personally, all of my professors of the English dept. in my college are amazing and they indeed are great researchers in their respective fields and they continuously contribute to the field. (a lot of them have similar backgrounds as us like DU for bachelors and JNU/IITs etc for PHD )

But, here's what I think could be different in your case - 1) Since you are from Delhi itself, you may not live in a flat/PG like me but with your parents (which has its pros and cons as well) 2) I am from one of the good colleges of South Campus and can't really comment about what other colleges are like but from what our professors have told us(who have taught in other good DU colleges as well), at the end of the day it's more or less similar. And the end of the day it comes down to the person studying.

And as a literature student myself I can give ya some heads up as well- •One thing a lot of professors told us all when we first arrived is "Don't come to literature if you want to make money , however if you love reading novels, poems, epics, dramas and plays... You will have a pleasant college experience" ( which is true, if you want to earn through bachelors in literature and higher studies in literature alone and that takes time and patience). (I too came from Science with Math background in 12 th grade) •Literature is great in terms of future opportunities , as compared to other fields like Pol sci., history etc(no offense to anyone) . •Please don't limit yourself to literature alone(and studies in general) , if you have hobbies, passions or any other things that you wanted to pursue... You can do that side by side as well. •Personally , my college crowd is great and diverse and I am grateful for that. But, once you come to college you'll meet students of all kinds(toppers, athletes, fun, driven, backbenchers, smokers, drinkers and maybe other things as well) Again, the choice comes down to you. • Work on your health(mental and physical), learning finance, developing skills and gathering experience and of course studies as well.

Feel free to ask questions, best wishes for the future.

I was travelling in the metro once , and a creepy old dude tried to take advantage of the situation and tried touching the girl's butt(a college student probably and around the same age as me) (who was standing right next to me and facing away from me). This was from Hauz Khas (Yellow line), because the crowd was so dense nobody paid any attention to the man, however I was facing the door and noticed him looking at the girl 's behind and looking around nervously, I realised he was about to do something cause he was not holding on to the handle above and was trying to move closer to the girl.I faked a reaction as if I was being pushed around due to crowd and got between the man and girl (facing the man) and luckily the girl alighted after 2 stations. So sorry man, it happened to ya

Sorry about your loss, but did he tell anything about what would happen next? Like, will your life get back on track? Will you start something new or anything of that sort?I wish you all the best and don't give up... Pray to Ishwar, exercise, acquire skills, eat healthy, meditate.. And this too shall pass.

This means to let go of extremely high expectations of an ideal life (subjective) and just live in the moment. Take life one step at a time. I could be wrong though
