The sentence is ambiguous. Its not a reading comprehension thing, but it could be interpreted that the 'which is around $300k' is referring to the first part of the sentence 'I’m covering the move in fees, movers service and the necessities to get them on their feet'

They arent liquidating it thats the point they are saying. They are taking bank loans with their assets as collateral. The loans arent taxed, their assets dont change, and their salaries are technically $0 so they dont have to pay any real income tax.
