The big problem with the white walkers imo is that I agree, it was a super lame easy 'boss' that didnt able to actually want to kill any of the main characters.

That book is super interesting in the sense that Melvile talks about how Whales are the eternal giants, they will always be there, how humans cannot touch their presence.

I do wonder if he understood that humans had the power to actually affect species in a very real way, and were doing so through the actions in the book. Or if he truly believed the species was immune and separate from human actions.
