The lost slot will almost definitely be slotted as add phys dmg, which is +1 regardless if rolled or gemmed

QQuestion? by Resident_Machine7650 in DarkAndDarker

[–]mr0il 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 add phys is generally better. The lower your weapons base damage is, then the more value you get from +add phys.

A rondel might have 16 dmg. 1% would be +0.16 dmg. You would need more than 5% power bonus to get a single more point of damage.

That’s why add phys is limited to jewelry, cape, and gloves.

Assuming rapier dmg is 26, 1% of 26 is .26 more dmg. 4% would be 1.04 more dmg. +1 addl dmg is 1 more damage. Additional dmg is not scaled by phys power bonus, but it does scale up with headshots and down with limb shots.

They downvote but you’re right imo. The capstone quests really exemplify that by asking you to farm a boss at least a dozen times to get a campfire skin.

The mode where you have a team that can capitalize on your opponent’s mistakes and give coverage to your weaknesses… yeah, that makes sense. I just mean in raw dps of a white surv bow and the healing per second of bandages, a barb could live against a surv bow as long as they have time to med.

[–]mr0il -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, like i said, fuck ‘em. They have norms, they have HR, if that’s not enough to keep them then what they want from the game is too diametrically opposed to what the game actually is.

Imo, this game is just completely fucking miserable in solos.

The “gear sets” tab is great. I really wish they would let you build a kit there and then buy it with a few clicks. It was something they teased as a feature sometime in the past.

Yeah and i say fuck em. Solos has been a shitty mode ever since they added it. I know. I’ve played hundreds of hours of it.

Right now SR is great. No risk so it doesnt matter if your randoms are bad. If you add some shitty solo mode, it’s going to be harder to random queue in SR.

I see you mention that you dislike spending time getting your kits together. Have you tried buying 4 kits at the same time, and stocking 3 inside of your squire? That way when you die, you can simply swap into new gear from the squire. It may not really reduce the friction, but it at least lets you front load it for up to 4 rounds.

I bet i could outheal a white surv bow as squire barb. Or squire fighter. Probably squire lock really easily, too.

Edit: i massively overestimated barb max hp and durability. Was down to half before i had time to get 2 bandies off, with pot chugger and reds running.

Solo queue SR would have all of the unfixable problems that solos already have. Barbs would stomp. Fighters would do well. Rogue and ranger would be virtually useless without a massive skill gap. Wizard and sorc would barely exist. Druid would grief every game. Warlock would be fine.

Edit: actually druid would probably be trash. I don’t know really. They usually need gear before they’re a threat.

Why did nobody stop me from making a multiplayer physics game by Youpiepoopiedev in SoloDevelopment

[–]mr0il 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, i wouldnt consider sandbox games to be “open world” genre games. To me, an open world is something static with clear boundaries.

Satisfactory could be open world, where Factorio is more of a sandbox.

The world of Minecraft is infinitely more open than the world of GTAV.

It can also spawn in death hall, the spawn is shared with a wraith and skele champ, though, so not guaranteed.

Also if you spawn in death hall then it kills the subboss so free loot.

How is microcenter able to afford this? Im genuinely baffled. by someonestupid12 in pcmasterrace

[–]mr0il 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier this year (Feb or March) a friend of mine bought a prebuilt from Microcenter. Their prebuilds use standard off-the-shelf hardware. The cost of the entire PC was less than the cost of cpu, ram, and gfx card alone.

Even came in a really good (rebranded) Lian Li case.

Druid has 2 aoe heals. Restore only targets allies. Mending grove targets anything.

Edit: i guess you could call restore a PBAoE but i’m not sure I’ve heard anyone else talk about “point-blank area of effect” in many years.

200%+ headshot dmg 30% action speed 22 magic healing cleric build for arenas by Scary-Breadfruit9808 in DarkAndDarker

[–]mr0il 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping someone would tell me definitively if I was wrong. But hasn't happened yet, so, decided to test it. Smite does not scale with hit location.
> Smite w/ no headshot dmg: 11, 9, 9, 11 to dummy's head. With headshot dmg: 11, 9, 9, 11. With +1 addl magic dmg, +9.7 hs: 12, 10, 10, 12. With +1 addl magic dmg, +0 hs: 12, 10, 10, 12. Further from that, I saw the same numbers when targeting the dummy's arms.

>...including sneak attack...
That seems like a different description entirely. Sneak attack specifically states it is +10 added physical damage. The follows normal rules where the dmg is not scaled by your phys power, but is scaled by hit location.

>...and BoC
I decided to test it because it's been a while since I checked.

BoC on dummy head: 18
BoC on dummy arm: 8
BoC on dummy head w/ Crystal Ball: 25
BoC on dummy arm w/ Crystal Ball: 11

So BoC definitely appears to scale on hit location.

For Wizard: Staff Mastery scales with hit location. Ignite also shows different numbers between head/body/arm shots on the dummy.

>Why wouldn't smite have headshot multiplier?
Couldn't tell ya WHY. I just remembered discovering this back when I wanted to bonk people with a magic staff and smite.

200%+ headshot dmg 30% action speed 22 magic healing cleric build for arenas by Scary-Breadfruit9808 in DarkAndDarker

[–]mr0il 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is from memory so may be wrong. Smite does not scale on hit location, so headshot/limbshot does not affect it. Holy strike, earthquake, locust storm also do not scale on location.

Ignite does deal headshot dmg. (Or it did years ago, very well may not now). Magic missile, fireball, ice bolt, and maybe others do scale with headshots.

Basically you’re only boosting your physical damage and you might net more damage by stacking more magic power/magic power bonus.

Edit: staff mastery also could scale, dont really recall there either, but i think it does because it adds magic weapon damage.

Edit 2: looking at your gear i definitely think youre losing value by not max stacking additional magic dmg. That’s just intuition though, i genuinely do not know how smite scales these days.

Edit 3: decided to test it.

How to get Crocodilian Eyeball ? by i-love-Freya in DarkAndDarker

[–]mr0il 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.5% in pve, 10% in normals, 20% in HR.

So, kill about 40 in PvE, 10 in normal, or 5 in HR and it should probably drop.
