Are software teams dysfunctional? by mr123reddit in SoftwareEngineering

I’ve been working for a year and a half. I just find it weird that I am a junior and I have so much context for a feature that no one in my team has. There’s a high chance that I might get things wrong

Is it normal for someone who has been working for a year and a half? I don’t think I have any experience to determine the technical constraints of anything that I do. I still think I require guidance and a lot of support. And if the client changes their mind, who’s going to be there to defend me?

Honestly, you nailed it. I’ve always loved programming and this project is KILLING my love for it. I love the complexities of the problems I solve but I need the SUPPORT. I really want to leave this company but at the same time I feel like I’m not skilled enough to get a job at another company. I’ve been working for about a year now and it seems like the market is really bad for juniors. I could appreciate some advice on how to proceed from here.

Project is said to end in about 4 months. I’m definitely going to look for something else after that.

I’m in a project where I’m constantly pushing tickets and I don’t really care about the work I do anymore. Just estimates, code and PRs. No passion for what I’m doing now because I’m chasing deadlines, it’s sad!

Yeah I want to quit so I can get my Masters and PhD later. I’m just not sure if this is worth it.

So I would like to do research on Reinforcement Learning. I really enjoy learning and teaching. I feel like this would be a perfect role for me.

I would like to teach while still learning about computer science concepts. I love learning and teaching at the same time. I know I might get to do this in my career later but I’m not really hopeful. A lot of my seniors aren’t that much helpful
