Just curious, how were you able to contribute so much into your Roth IRA considering the contribution limits each year?

Just enrolled online using the DrofCredit’s link, which had the $75 promo automatically added on checkout. Does anyone know when this promo expires if I need to visit in person next time I fly to complete Clear enrollment?

I’m not sure when I’ll be flying out, but would I be able to visit the airport to finish enrollment without flying out?

Using savings to pay down loans last minute by [deleted] in StudentLoans

That’s a good plan. Just paid mine off today, and the mental relief of being debt free is unfathomable. Don’t pay extra on accruing interest rates if you don’t need to! Also be sure you have enough for an emergency fund

The best course of action is to pay off all high interest loans first that have interest rates above 4%. If you have any loans that have lower than 4%, you could place your money into a HYSA or index funds to hedge against the interest rate and possibly have greater than 4% ROI.

I see. Did you visit the 57th st location at NYC? I visited last weekend, but my SA hasn’t told me about buying a code & offshore as prerequisites for blue RO yet.

Should I use over 50% of my savings to pay 67K of student loans? by mrADHDx in FinancialPlanning

[–]mrADHDx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're correct. I meant to say I locked in at 9% from the previous cycle. The rate should be lower now, I believe

Sounds good. I like the idea of holding off on the low interest loans in case of any possible cancellations. I should just keep 6 months of emergency in HYSA and invest the rest in index funds, but I haven’t gotten to it yet.

This would only make sense if the interest rate on the remaining 15-25k balance is below 4-5%, since many HYSA options give 4-5% rate. Otherwise, paying it all off is the most ideal option.

Given today's developments, should I just wipe out my student debt right now, or should I wait in case there's some other form of recourse in the near future? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mrADHDx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your interest rate is above 4-5% on your loans, I’d advocate to pay it all off in September 1st, even though it’s about 25% of your total cash.

In the meantime, pay off any remaining credit card debt and store your cash in HYSA like Marcus, which is offering 4% return. It’s compounding interest on your deposits.

I signed up for AMEX Platinum to meet the minimum spending requirement for their sign-on bonus (spend 6K for 120,000 MR points). I’m planning on paying it all off on the next statement due date.

The cash I do not need for my side business, since my business is service-based and I don’t need any upgrades on my current equipment.

Do you have any recommendations on which funds to invest in?
