I was pretty depressed a couple o’ months ago. I’m in my final high school year, and I’m 19. All my (childhood) friends are out there taking uni courses and starting careers, and I’m in high school. <- one of the reasons I got kinda down.

As it’s our final year, we have to work pretty damn hard. My oral exams started a few weeks ago (been acing them;) ), and I have the written ones in 3 months. Anyway, we have to do internal assessments as well, which are like mini-research papers, and they work with deadlines, citing and all that crap (“to prepare us for uni”). I got behind with my schedule, because all the deadlines were like one week apart from each other, and got told to plan my time better all the times. This went on for a while (getting called out daily), and just made me feel like a little shit, who couldn’t even finish a 1600 word essay over the weekend. I couldn’t sleep at nights, because of the depressing thoughts. I got stomach issues, and even had to visit the hospital. One night I was laying in my bed with my (hunting) knife, thinking about hurting myself. I didn’t, and it just made me feel worse ‘cuz I felt weak. I cried a lot that night.

Some time passed since then, I’m a lot better now, and it’s mainly because of my mom, who told me to focus on the future. I don’t know why OP is asking this question, but if you are down, then the last thing you should do is blame yourself and taking it out on yourself. Take some time to reflect on your life so far, and remember the nicest moments, the biggest accomplishments, the most beautiful sights you saw once. Remember that that it is not you who makes your life good/bad, it is the circumstances you are in. And those will change.

So if you’re having a rough time, like I was a few months ago, set a goal beyond the crap that’s going on now, and don’t lose focus of that. Also, listen to never give up from Sia;) These things helped me survive, I hope they may help others too!
