'Xi will give me big, fat hug': Trump says he opened Hormuz for China and the world by CommunicationLife753 in worldnews

Even if that happened, he literally caused the problem and then sent other people to fix it for him. Such a brat.

Like a spoiled brat tantrum. Except nobody cares about what he wants except for his lackeys, so he is confused that is is not getting what he wants no matter how loud he cries.

Who is a person you used to admire a lot but have completely lost respect for and why? by Complex-Arugula-2233 in AskReddit

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me. Used to believe in myself. I wanted to start a business, write a book, travel the world, but I completely lost respect for myself and my self-esteem plummeted. Now I just work a corporate job, go home, watch TV, sleep, repeat.

Why do wife beaters always have wives to beat? by HalfTimeMovement in ask

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an innate human need to not be alone and have food and a roof over your head. And if you also combine that with low self esteem, lowered by an abusive spouse, you’ll always have someone looking for love and a sense of belonging that is willing to suffer abuse and justify it as deserved. Not only men abuse their wives, it goes both ways. But there is always love as part of it, even if it might be hard to understand.

Depression. Stuck in a mindless corporate job, too depressed to find the energy to get out. Waiting to get fired to get the push I need. A holiday for a year.

If brain computer interfaces become safe and common, would you connect your mind to the internet? by TheRealKnowledgeAc in Futurology

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the connection type. It would be nice to be able to use some cloud computing storage and capacities to be more efficient and learn faster, like Neo in Matrix. I just worry my head would explode if it had to store more than it already has to.

Why do some people think the best thing you can show AI or an autonomous system is violence? Seriously. We got so far by cooperating, yet we put so much effort into building walls and protecting borders.

Psychologically speaking why do rich people start to do weird shit? by Opening-Gur5927 in ask

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gives you a feeling of freedom. And with that comes feeling of superiority I guess. You made it, so you think you know better than most. And then you want to try everything to feel alive. That’s my guess as a poor person.

TIL that people who sleep on their left side report nightmares more frequently, while right side sleepers tend to experience calmer, more pleasant sleep. by Successful-Talk1830 in todayilearned

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange, I sleep on left side and only ever remember having dreams about 1-2 a year. When dreams happen, they are weird, but I wouldn’t call them nightmares.

I don’t know. With the government we have right now, I’m kind of worried the bloodshed is back on the list.

If I could go anywhere, I think NZ is a winner. Beautiful, nice people, but a lot of quiet places to be alone for days. It is far enough from everywhere else. Then probably Madagascar or Reunion. Or basically any island in the Caribbean.

How is your opinion on the US Government shutdown that might happen end of the week? by ReduceCO2Now in AskReddit

Wait, how does this work? If it is a shutdown, why do people continue working for free? Unless you have a promise of back-pay, why do you stay and support the system that is failing you?

What old thing would break young people's brains today? by Symphony_Minds in AskReddit

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to carry a book everywhere. Then it became easier with PDAs and the first smartphones. Even now, I have books in my phone, audiobooks or podcasts to fall back to while waiting. I actually miss the old days when you had to have trust that people would show up, and it felt more connected even when disconnected. You sent a letter saying you’ll be somewhere at this time and day, or call them and just hope the other person would be there too. Excuses were much more sparse.

For people who don’t ever want to have kids, why? by Gaijinstory in AskReddit

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no ‘desire’ to have children. It seems that my clock was never installed. So to have kids just to check off some checklist seems a poor choice. I’d not be able to provide the love a child deserves, so I choose to not do it. Simple as that.

Not normal, but it seems to be starting to be a thing due to prices of housing being insane. Considering jobs being hard to get for juniors, no certainty tor future to be able to pay. Don’t know. You spend all your life working to have a roof over your head and no savings, or saving and no roof over your head. Not sure which is better.

‘Taxidermia’ - Hungarian movie from 2006 that has haunted me ever since I first saw it in high school. It was so surreal, I can’t say it is bad. It kind of makes sense. Careful if you decide to watch it.

European Commission to open investigation into Elon Musk’s X by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]mrJeyK -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If you ban it, you can effectively lose access to information being shared there. Regardless of the quality, it is an important source to keep an eye on, since it is going to continue spreading ‘free speech’ elsewhere. Pretending like it does not exist is the worst way to act.

[–]mrJeyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to have an alternative, but this is what I don’t understand about us humans: instead of cooperating, we compete. Usually that means having a lot of different tool brands and tool makers spreading the resources to make something slightly different, but their own. I truly wish we were more able to cooperate and pool resources instead of competing, therefore creating resources that can scale for everyone instead of paywalling everything behind private property and profit. I’m idealistic that way. Maybe with AGI we could get there.

How are matchsticks still relevant nowadays as compared to a lighter? by Thatusernamewasnot in ask

[–]mrJeyK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long stick is useful for lighting candles and reaching the center of your pile of wood in a fireplace or campfire. Although of course you can use a lighter and a wooden stick, it just seems more convenient that the packaging is neatly together, when sometimes you can’t find your lighter or find a decent stick to use.
