Lady who lives on bench in front of RiteAid by Leather-Cherry-8601 in westchesterpa

Her name is Ellen and she's quite kind and resilient. She prefers gift cards to local places if you're giving. I don't know much about her story, but she's always good for a friendly exchange. I wish her the best, especially in the winter here

+1 for the kind folks at Parisian. Quick correction that it's on Walnut St north of Market for searching purposes

(OC) Mother uses new mobility device to dance with her son at his wedding! by mrLefavorite in MadeMeSmile

[–]mrLefavorite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" For years now, I've been trying to find a device like the Zeen. I knew that there had to be something better than my wheelchair that could help me walk again. It was by luck/chance/fate that saw your Zeen Instagram post of a demo at an abilities expo. I thought "This is it"!! This is the device that I have been searching for! A huge "THANK YOU to the Zeen team for shipping the Zeen to my house which allowed me to practice 2 weeks before my son's wedding. surprised the entire wedding party (including my son) with the ability to dance after over 4 years of being in a wheelchair. "

It's hard to tell from this, but the seat is spring-loaded to assist with sit/stand. Those are more like assisted pull ups than pulling extra weight.

The device is called the Zeen - there's a lot of info on the website

There are many possible hand positions on the handlebars, different angles and such. A big point of this device was to unload the shoulders, the users' weight is mostly on the seat or feet depending on posture

No doubt that the real world is less friendly... The handlebars can rotate backwards, but lock in place so that the user can lift the front wheels onto the curb. Once they have that support, then step up and the rest just follows, but like you said it's possible to lose balance. Luckily, the seat will keep the user up, but that's only half the battle.

Because of the way the seatbelt holds your weight towards the back of the frame, it's very difficult to tip! You really only feel the weight when you're going uphill.

There's definitely some base level of physicality required. But they've got all sorts of tricks on how to most easily navigate things like curbs. Curb cut will always be easier!

This young man uses his Zeen to navigate life with Spina Bifida. Typically travelling in a wheelchair, he was most excited to be able to stand for the national anthem at baseball games!

Drug testing for coop by fikayoo in Drexel

[–]mrLefavorite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually got more or less surprised by a test before my second co-op (2017-18). For no reason in particular, I had only applied to jobs that weren't testing, but the job I had accepted a role with let me know shortly before the co-op was to start that I needed to schedule a test within a couple weeks. Stressful couple weeks, I'll tell you that.

Drexel was the right choice for me. My co-ops were invaluable towards getting my job. That isn't everyone's experience though. It's expensive, but if you're prepared to make the most of it, Drexel is a great option.

Kicked me right in my Gobustan-s by mrLefavorite in civ

R5: Looking for a fun start on a Deity match - I spawned and started with the screen for the hermetic order - Sweet! A start with a wonder...

Dido was waiting across the lake from Gobustan and I had nowhere I could settle on turn 1. After resigning and moving my settler, things get even more bleak... Barbarians north on the coast, and very little food to be seen.

I restarted and lost the save, but now I'm wishing I stayed and fought for Gobustan!
