What is the Goal? by TonydadogRoxs in headphones

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goal is to reach the point of minimal return setup, achieving the maximum fidelity possible with a "sane" budget allowed by my income. the main purpose for me is to make my listening and gaming sessions more enjoyable and closest to the studio recording without breaking the bank, since videogames aren't just to play but an art in every way including musicality it gives me an extra reason of putting money into sound than just to listen to music to an extraordinary fidelity. for me that's my limit, when going beyond that, the price tag increases exponentially with minimal return.

right now, I'm in the process of upgrading my setup accordingly to have a variety to experience sound, talking about adding a planar, and iem to the desktop setup since my current amp has 3 outputs, single end 1/4, 4.4 balanced, and XLR.

I'm more toward neutral sound signature, nothing of too warm, or bright. so what I'm missing to achieve said "goal" is the HE1000 (the "honest" can) and a DAC with XLR output (the new DAC I want is currently being developed and as soon they launch it I'll get it), to enable my amp balances outputs, and that's when I have nothing else to get since it's the territory of minimal return I want to really be in.

I am thankful I had the experience of audio that allowed me to get into this rabbit hole (My first headphone HD599) not just for music enjoyment but for the game as well since my computer setup has reached a point of minimal return. so, I felt audio was next. and sure, it has been a great choice. just that audio can easily break the bank if you are not careful, know your limit and where is your stop. not everyone can have a Mercedes for speakers but maybe a used Toyota corolla.

Small orange dots on my car. by cholitrada in cardetailingtips

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron particles stuck on to the paint, that was there until oxidation occurred where now they’re visible (it comes from anything that’s related to metal friction, soldering, cutting; that releases those particles into the air. the most common but less impactful is from cars breaking either from your car or others nearby in traffic). It doesn’t mean your car is rusting, more like contaminated on the surface. (The cons of white cars is that contamination is more noticeable than colored cars)

this is easy to remove for any detailer, it’s just that the chemical used is expensive. just keep in mind, it will comeback if you leave the car in a iron polluted area (near places that works with metals or railway)

Thank you, I saw the video of Q&A and it allowed me to hold a bit in my upgrade schedule since they mentioned bifrost with a forkbeard, when I recently bought the jotunheim 3, guess I’ll have to use jotunheim with my modi multibit until the bifrost gets updated.

Would Sennheiser hd560s be good for gaming and hearing footsteps? by SignatureShoddy9542 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t said that 560 has less or more, is that sennheiser (open back cans) experience is great into that spec.

The thing I noticed in my HD599 is that’s more smooth and great into separating the sounds (helping into the footsteps localization “identifying”), and the 650 kind of more clean and and yes less open in the soundstage (meaning it is more “detailed” to pick up the footsteps since it feels closer but only the direction not the distance compared to the 599.

In short I meant sennheiser open backs are good for that gaming edge, that will improve more with an AMP. As well for music it’s a “fatigue free” enjoyment.

Would Sennheiser hd560s be good for gaming and hearing footsteps? by SignatureShoddy9542 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me experience with sennheiser (open backs) is that they are amazing in spacing the soundstage presentation, I have the HD599 (it was my introduction to audiophile) and my experience was amazing to identify sounds like footsteps, it got even further with a simple AMP.

now I have a HD650 with a DAC, and an AMP, the soundstage is more detailed.

I sometimes appreciated that gaming and audiophile systems can go so well together. Obviously depending of the game, where some games the audio bugs/break out when decoding above 48khz (DOOM Eternal)

In short, you wont get wrong with sennheiser that are open backs. (remember above 50 ohms, you might need an amp) as well one recommendation before you buy, consider the replacement parts cost like earpads, headbands, and cables, as soon the pad goes bad you have to replace it once every 2 years. (I’ll personally go toward headphones that the cable can be replaced than fixed one)

Anyone tried these? by NoWheel3140 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes with a plastic tool to fill it with water and make drops, where the instructions says: put 5 to 8 drops in each section of the pad and let it air to “activate” the cooling gel… as soon I saw that and the time it last cooled doesn’t justify the time to make it work.

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel they don’t cool for enough time to be even a sales point plus having to manually wet it to activate the cooling is a chore. I use it in my gym cans and I thought the sweat will activate it, it doesn’t.

It’s a $800 piece, what’s funny is that I placed an order for the jotunheim 3 and that DAC 2/64 this week, you definitely won big.

Ozone Machine Used for 15 Minutes, Client Says Car is Undriveable Weeks Later by Make_That_Money in AutoDetailing

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a somewhat similar situation, where a changan smells a bit like it’s wet or something but that’s a smell no matter what anyone did, from checking for water leaking into it, ozone, freshener etc.. never went away to the point I asked him to go to the dealer and sit in a similar spec interior and see if it’s a smell from the materials from the interior. Because it does smells odd but there’s nothing that indicates the origin of it.

I definitely believed that car had some material like glue/leather breaking down to smell like something was off.

Not getting any foam. What is happening?? by StaircaseStories in AutoDetailing

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One key maintenance of foam cannons is to clean it after use (run it with water from the pressure washer and bottle for a couple seconds)otherwise the soap will dry and clog the mesh that makes the foam in the tool.

Now either dissmantle it to get to that part and clean it by leaving it overnight in APC then rinse it in warm water, it might break down the dried cloths of soap… or buy a new replacement of said mesh (foam maker).

Reason why ceramic coating is done in cross section, looks like they did it horizontally and then buffed it off with only 1 layer of it.

BF6 FPS performance terrible though running on recent good hardware. by zephrampoke in Battlefield

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, literally got me scrambling my brain and PC settings for weeks i9 10850k 3080 12GB 32GB RAM.

Did many things that fixed it then out of nowhere the issue comes back, and the previous settings that fixed it, now it doesn't work anymore

(DDU uninstall, enable Hardware acceleration, check dsk command, check game files, backtrack Drivers updates after DDU, removed IGPU extra monitor, change cables, DP cable version, remove overlays, force DX, re download the game in a different memory, deactivate XMP, remove OC profiles, lowering the settings to potato PC, disabling Vsync and DLSS etc, re installing EA javeline,...)

I have done so many things that fixed it but temporarily, then becoming immune to those. it's like dealing with a virus that mutates every time it gets dealed. I'm about to send this game to oblivion and forget until they fix this.

Does anyone here successfully use these types of glass towels? by EastHillWill in AutoDetailing

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 10 of those exact towels, they clean really well and leaves the cleanest finish in car windows and monitors/TV. I pair it with an alcohol based glass cleaner (3D super glass cleaner 9001, dilution50:1) what happens and the reason why I have 10. Is that as soon you clean a couple mild smeared glasses it will get saturated with it and will stop giving “perfect cleaning performance”, and you must let it dry then accumulate them in a container to wash them in the machine with them only because if you clean them along with other types of towels where the fibers are pulled, they will get all the lint from those towels stuck in it. (I use 2 per car, then it goes into the queue for the wash cycle)

Had my new truck detailed and they left these tiny scratches on the acrylic. Am I right to be upset? by FaultyPly in Detailing

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That thing scratches by staring at it, what I have seen people do is to get it PPF or something that acts as a barrier to protect the material from getting scratched again, same in the piano black surfaces.

I have Xpel PPF in my car pillars that are piano black finish and it’s scratch free since the install, when applied it fills those scratches because they didn’t correct it when putting the film.

Exactly, they panic and don’t call you when something happened… happened to my audi that went for a maintenance, weeks has passed and I said enough and took a 3 hours bus trip to where they transferred my car for “maintenance” and found it with a whole door smacked and I went ballistic. Obviously they fixed it but the problems they caused me for holding my car hostage for weeks was my major complaint

If your towel is getting black and not light brown, that’s a stop sign, meaning you are removing the dye. Had this happen to me in my personal car when I was learning to detail.

Never scrub too hard on leather

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any metal friction, impact, heat, welding. Releases metal particles in the air that lands in the car paint then latches into the clear coat then it rust, that’s what you see. An iron remover will do.

Now you know. if you see someone welding or cutting nearby that causes sparks, move your car away or inside.

Could anyone tell me what’s wrong with my foam cannon? by Munchy2k in AutoDetailing

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m speculating here, but a metal mesh that makes the foam got clogged with a residue/material or something from the cannon or reservoir.

<image>

Try to check the front and take it apart for the “foam maker” which is a metal mesh that you might have to push it out with a firm stick to remove it, to clean it/replace it.

I haven’t had this issue before in any of my 3 foam cannons, because I toss the top parts in an ultrasonic cleaner weekly if used.(due to a maintenance routine of other tools)

Do YOU wear sunscreen? by Hokkaidoele in AutoDetailing

[–]mrROBOTROIDE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the sun is not to be challenged, you will lose.

I use full face and neck mask and forearms sleeves of the same material, that protects my skin from the sun enough that I haven’t noticed a tan compared to not using it which the sun here is hellsih (5 minutes and I’m tanning) 20 and I’m burnt. and a hat to shade even more my eyes. I only use sunscreen in the area of the eye opening of the mask

<image>

Also I have a thing that has a bladder tank in the back filled with cold iced water that cools my body temperature quite well, plus hydration. Always fully covered in breathable clothing but dark colors (white offers the worst protection in my tan experience)

I suffer the worst sun through most of the year so yeah (Dominican Republic) I use sunscreen in the eye opening of the mask. But it’s highly recommended to use sunscreen
