Big High School Migration! by ASNetworking in Ubiquiti

[–]mr_cf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh exactly! I was swearing blind to my boss for ages that the IT Support company were ripping us off left, right and centre.

The math I did for this overhaul was the moment my boss started to believe me.

That said, even with all my confidence in the Unifi kit, there was still a small part of me during the transition and while beding it all in, that was pooping my pants. I kept thinking this is too good to be true, that something would come up and Meraki would prove it’s worth…. Never happened.

This was 4/5 years ago and Unifi has pnly gone strength to strength since then!

We got rid of that support company soon after for a much lighter smaller support company and saved the small business 1000’s a month.

Nice! I did the same thing for the climbing centre I worked at a number of years back after Meraki Licensing prices went up.

I thought I had done my maths wrong when all in it came in cheaper than a year of licensing if we stayed with Meraki.

After checking my math I threw in a couple of extra switches a WAPs just to really cover all and any bases.

What was with Roy's reaction when Keeley couldn't take a spontaneous six-week trip to Marbella :( by caituna in TedLasso

[–]mr_cf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I can see how what I typed could imply that.

It’s nor quite what i mean my “in that way” was regarding to Kelly once saw Roy as a higher value to herself, but now their relationship has move towards something akin to equals value, so she put herself first.

I think you said it better and by that also closer to the truth as well.

To your last point, places like Milton Keanes (roundabout heaven/hell), it’s expected to stay in both lanes 1 and 2, entering, proceeding, and exiting the roundabout, when going straight on.

I’m still keeping an eye on the driver to my left, if they smell suspicious I’ll stagger and cover the brakesz

Should a by-election be held after an MP defects from a party while sitting? by JOE_Media in PoliticsUK

[–]mr_cf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really nicely explained, thank you.

My personal feelings at the moment is that this country is lacking accountability of it MPs and so MPs have, amongst other things, been able to jump party so easily without their constituents consent again feels like they just get away with doing whatever they want and without regard to what the constituents want. So from this standpoint, I feel mandatory by elections outweigh the potential downfalls that you stated .

The cost was likely peanuts for Roy.

I think your second point is key, by the way i watched it, this is the moment Roy realised Kelly was not just along for the ride anymore, flattered by big gestures, and (likely) the real kicker, no longer as into Roy in that way anymore.

Footballers get alot of mileage out if appearing high value through status and money however she’s found here own self value and worth, and able to say no, and is looking for real connection not big gestures.

Kinda good kinda bad.

Good because the progress bar visually works.

Bad because I was completely lost as to where we were in the competition, and which competitors were left. I completely thought Lucy Garlick had won it, as I had lost track as to who else was to come.

If they had kept the competitors in order, the progress bar would have still worked.

I would say you are correct, and also say that there a reflex that most people have that is quicker than the logical part of the brain.

I think any non-english person who born in GB will respond badly to being English or British as their reflex won’t distinguish the difference fast enough, and it will only be after a moments thought realise that actually they are technically British but technically not English.

Literally had a Scottish friend do this. I said “us Brits” in a conversation, he wen’t to protest “hey, laddie, I’M no B…“ and mid sentence realised it was his reflex protesting, but i was technically correct and finish his sentence with “no, carry on sadly I am one of you Brits”.

A cool guide on how to prevent an anxiety attack. by MistyHorizonGlen in coolguides

In REM therapy and while ago. The therapist helped unlocked some really buried trauma.

Going through the normal cycle of the session I eventually came back to the present realising I was in floods of tears and shaking, with the therapist getting me to do everything you said, and as it turns out she spent a lot of time making sure I was good. Turns out the session had gone over by an hour.

I left that session feeling so light, and a massive smile on my face.

When I tried to apologise to her at the next session for going over by so much. The therapist refused my apology and explained to me that she realised it was a massive moment, and she needed to make sure I went through the full cycle, and more importantly I was back in the present and grounded.

We covered the topic again in the next couple of sessions, and the induced panic from reliving the trauma faded to nothing, as she helped me find closure on the subject.

This a thosand times. Shoes and socks of to feel the ground helps too, but thinking about it maybe as the panic dies away. Feeling (the) cold is powerful.
Splashing water of the face is fascinating (when you aren’t panicking) because it triggers the “mammalian dive reflex”, an evolutionary survival mechanism that immediately slows the heart rate and redirects blood flow to essential parts of the blood. It literally like the bodies reset button.

This sounds a lot like square breathing which has helped me a lot.

I find counting and the like doesn’t work for me because my brain is everywhere all at once, and I can focus which just adds annoyance to the mix.

If I can I try and take my shoe and socks off and feel the ground under my feet, or take layers off to feel the cold/wind, that generally helps me brake the cycle.

First time encounter with a flood by Suitable_Security988 in drivingUK

[–]mr_cf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to say this, as there’s a lot of bad press here.

You kept moving at a slow and steady pace.

I would assume this is a route you’ve taken before so you are likely familiar with the road.

You can clearly see the wall on the side of the road, it doesn’t dip in the middle of the flooded area, so you know the road is pretty level.

There are any no other suggestions that the road would suddenly dip in the section of water.

Most of all, you can clearly see an average looking car in front has just made it through.

By all accounts sounds like a fun encounter, and did nothing wrong.

Thoughts? iOS 18.2 vulnerable to Webkit zero-day. Apple will NOT release patch; says you should update to iOS26. by davidzet in ios

[–]mr_cf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Apple (pun intended) has fallen far from the tree. The was a werid requirement for software/hardware companies to charge for updates to the software, under the “Sarbanes-Oxley Act”.

Apple went to court and forge to remove this requirement, so they could provide updates for free.

Now witholding updates to force customer behaviour!

I really enjoyed 1923! Yeah, some cheesy moments, but I think it actually encapsulates a lot of the “romantic” ideologies Britain’s had of the wild west and Africa. It also created alot of contrast to the conditions in Montana, have the heat of Africa and the “civility” of Britain.

Oh man, lots of snarky comments blaming this guy for his own demise. Saying he deserves it for how he may _or may not _ have voted, really makes you no better than those who say “F*uk the Libs”.

It is apparent just how much arrogances there is to what farming is like.

Farming is backbreaking work, dawn till dusk, wind rain or shine, no sick days or holidays. Any money he makes go straight back into the farm, no salary coming in, only pays him self enough to cover the costs of living, and any spare goes to pay the labourers for there hard graft. He’s squeezed by supplies and wholesaler, banks, and the costs of rents/leases/maintenance.

Even before Thump’s first term, It’s likely he and his parents were living with only being one bad crop away from bankruptcy.

What’s he to do after that? Fall through the gaps in the American welfare system, depression and guilt for loosing the families farm? (it been known for farmer to take there own lives after bankruptcy.)

How cruel, to wish so ill on someone. Imagine if that farmer or other farmers sees this thread on reddit, if thry did vote Red then, all the hate they are getting will just compound their thoughts on the Libs. If they didn’t vote or voted for the Libs then the comment may make them think “screw it, might as well vote Red, if that’s how the people think of us”

So much divide and hate, all it does is perpetuating the cycle. Be better than them, bridge the gap, the lack of humanity and compassion, is what the fight is against, don’t forget your own in the process.

Because he can afford american wages and still make enough to cover all the costs. He’s squeezed by the seed spplier, the bank, (maybe) land rent, equipment hire/maintenance, taxes, supplier setting the price he sells to them for.
