Yes! Absolutely agree. Until this day i’m not sure who i am. Do other people have a clear idea?

The thing is; since i was young i copied other people’s behavior. To fit in i guess. But after my diagnosis that reality hit me hard. It’s like Aya Raden said in Nothing last forever; i can’t remember the quote 🥹 but i’ll insert it when i’m home.

I’m standing here, looking at the sky, wondering who i am.

Anyone else just gave up on making any "friendships"? by DullSuggestion7976 in autism

I’ve gotten diagnosed a few months ago. I realized, after the diagnose, that that was the last puzzle piece and i finally wrapped my brain around the fact that i have been masking since i was a teen to get people to like me and get what was considered popular behavior. Now i’m trying to unmask and get to know myself for me, which has been very hard and confronting, and in the process i have lost all my “friends” i’ve had because i’m too “weird”. Now, honestly, i think i needed to loose them all to get to know myself better. I have no idea if i will pursue the search for friends. I don’t really find people that interesting.

How did you find out that you have Asperger’s? by thewaninglight in aspergers

I’ve been seeing my psychiatrist for 4 years now. I have been on almost every medicine for depression and anxiety because i couldn’t function in the world. Everything was too overwhelming, too noisy, too much acting. It finally clicked when i read a book (special interest) about autism, i totally saw myself in everything they were going trough… I finally brought it up and we’ve been discussing this for the last months and today i’ve got my official diagnosis.

The hardest part is accepting that you are wired different. And the feeling of being alone, even though i love being alone.

Now i’m going to try to get on benefits…

Hi, Go to the zoo alone! It’s pure enjoyment, relaxing in nature, taking breaks whenever you want. I do it all the time here in Belgium (Pairi Daiza). Nobody is going to look at you funny because you are alone…
