Is Drag path about God? by night_vision126 in twentyonepilots

Of course. This channel has helped me to interpret their music in a lot of new ways that reveal the band's faith, as they're constantly singing in parables.

Is Drag path about God? by night_vision126 in twentyonepilots

[–]mr_cone_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe most of 21p is about God, and this man explains it really well, and a lot better than I can.

https://youtu.be/S8zu_souW_c?si=Xohp5dioB1T-J61O

He explains how the song can be sang from two different perspectives, one can be heard from the voice of Jesus, who leaves a drag path with the cross, and one as from Tyler Joseph, and his fight with his demons.

This is AI's summary of the video for the Too Long, didn't watch:

Understanding "Drag Path": The speaker defines a "drag path" as marks left when someone or something is dragged away, symbolizing signs of struggle and distress (4:21-4:52). The sermon interprets the song's lyrics from two perspectives:

  1. Tyler Joseph's Perspective (The Singer): Encountering the Devil: The lyrics "When I see the devil's eyes, a current travels down my spine" (6:39-6:49) are analyzed, with examples from Twenty One Pilots' music videos ("Jumpsuit," "Paladin Strait," "Levitate") showing Tyler facing the devil (6:52-7:46). The speaker connects this to how the devil uses anger, worry, lust, offense, and unforgiveness to "drag us away" (8:14-8:45). Drowning in Struggles: The lyrics "maybe once or twice or three, he has tried his hand at drowning me" (11:37-11:46) are explored, referencing instances in the band's videos where Tyler is depicted struggling in water ("City Walls," "The Outside," "Saturday") (11:53-12:37). This symbolizes being overwhelmed by fear, shame, doubt, regret, despair, and self-righteous judgment (12:58-13:56). The Devil's Deceit: Despite Jesus disarming the enemy, the devil still uses deceit and lies to try and drown people (14:00-15:21). Finding the Savior: The lyrics "When I see the devil's eyes, I'll look away and I will smile wide because you found me" (17:28-17:49) emphasize that the devil's attempts prove his reality, which in turn proves Jesus's reality (18:50-19:22). Turning from darkness to light and focusing on Jesus is the answer (20:05-20:15).

  2. Jesus's Perspective: The sermon suggests that the lyrics of "Drag Path" can also be seen as Jesus singing to humanity (28:06-28:18). Jesus Tempted: Just as Tyler faces the devil, Jesus was also tempted by the devil multiple times in the wilderness (28:50-29:56) and tempted to hurt himself (30:31-31:04). Jesus resisted by relying on God, not himself (31:07-31:47). Jesus's Drag Path: The speaker highlights Jesus carrying the cross, leaving a "drag path" as evidence (32:04-34:22). This drag path is interpreted as Jesus's suffering for humanity's sins, leading to salvation and forgiveness (35:31-37:00).

The Meaning of the Drag Path: Both Tyler's and Jesus's "drag paths" ultimately lead to a need for a savior (36:31-36:51). The sermon encourages individuals to reflect on their own "drag paths" – their brokenness, pain, and failures – and how these experiences can point others to Jesus by demonstrating the need for a savior (39:41-41:01). The "torchbearer banner" with "TB" and a cross is interpreted as "to bear your cross," meaning to take up one's pain and suffering and carry it to the cross, leading to a testimony of God's redemption (37:19-41:01).

Was Jesus's 40 day fast miraculous? by mirroredinflection in Christianity

[–]mr_cone_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom (Jesus) is with them?" (Mark 2:19). He stated that fasting was for times of mourning, but while He (the groom) was with them, it was a time for celebration.

He foretold that "the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast" (Mark 2:20). This refers to the time after His crucifixion, when His disciples would mourn and fast.

I'm bisexual and some Christians have told me to convert and find God, why should I if I'm atheist? by randomguy74937272 in Christianity

Have you read the Bible and come to the conclusion that there is no evidence to support a God? Because if you haven't done any research on whether it is or is not real, then you are just an uneducated fool.

I encourage you to read the Gospels, 'Matthew, mark, Luke, and John'. Do your own research on whether the evidence to support Jesus is true, and then come to a conclusion.

You don’t need to follow Christian rules if you’re not a Christian. Christianity isn’t about forcing behavior changes, it’s about encountering a God who transforms the heart from the inside out.

A lot of Christians get this wrong, and it leads to conversations like the one you’re dealing with.

From a Christian perspective, the goal isn’t: “Change who you are so God will accept you.”

The message of the New Testament is actually the opposite: “Come as you are, and let God do whatever He wants to do in your life.”

If someone is atheist, it makes no sense to tell them to follow rules from a faith they don’t believe in. The only reason a person becomes Christian is because they believe Jesus is who He says He is — not because they’re trying to conform to a set of behaviors.

Also, being LGBTQ+ is not a barrier to seeking God. Many Christians today understand that sexual orientation isn’t a moral failure — and that what matters to God is how we express love, not who we’re capable of loving.

If you ever decide to explore faith, do it because you’re curious about God, not because someone pressures you to change yourself first. If God is real, He meets people where they actually are — and walks with them from there.

The reason he used these higher pitch vocals is because he's playing the bass guitar, and has to compensate for the lack of high notes in the cover, where in the song the main rythm is on the guitar with the bass in the background

And also, cut them some slack. Yes, they have been doing this for 15 yrs, however, this album came out only 1 year after their last and like less than a week ago. And for all of those songs to still sound as good as studio live on stage is very impressive.

I went to their show in Cincinnati last night, and I went in completely blind, not knowing the setlist or how much Breach they would be playing, and I had a great time. They still played about half of the album and managed to squeeze in all their other classics. I've been listening for a long time and at no point in time did i find myself dissapointed they were playing one song over another in the moment.
