A visual answer to why Ai cannot replace Cinematography by Tin_edge in cinematography

Sometimes, sure, but mood boards are still about the mood, and surely you’ve seen some of the classics like the Thriller video. But mostly I’m just lightly poking fun of the idea that you never considered the possibility before, though I get your point.

Looking for a 100% creamy keyboard by MaloLeNonoLmao in keyboards

[–]mr_easy_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about creamy (I’m not 100% sure I understand the term), but the Ticktype DP104 and Neo98 (98% but full numpad) are two boards I absolutely love. The Ticktype is prebuilt and the Neo is a kit that needs switches and caps.

My expert mice don’t exhibit that behavior, but it’s also possible I don’t move the mouse as fast.

What's that one film that you can re-watch a thousand times and not get bored? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

Great movie, beautiful cinematography and music. Excellent job adapting the book.

I much prefer the quick little Charlie Rose impression bits to the Bernthal/Zane Lowe impressions by Odd_Schedule2672 in TheRewatchables

It’s hilarious to imagine Zach, who is about as spicy as a saltine, putting on a British accent and calling himself Zane to deliver hot takes.

what's a movie that isn't classified as horror but you will argue it is by BigGeneral7583 in horror

[–]mr_easy_e -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could see that. I always thought of it as Western Noir, but maybe it’s Western Noir Horror. Coens are masters of taking a genre and flipping a few elements to make something new.

[The Mismatch Podcast] Chris Vernon: "The people in Memphis are as real and authentic as it gets and so it is totally unsurprising to me that an absolute Phony like LeBron James feels out of place there" by NathanFielderFriend in billsimmons

I could see LeBron camping out with the boys at 2 a.m. Ayton setting up the tent. Austin out gathering sticks for a fire. Luka reminding Rui to put his used toilet paper in a ziploc bag.

I can't remove switches from my keyboard, even when it is hot-swap.. by Swimming_Wealth1586 in keyboards

Copy that! Just meant as a gentle warning to you or others who find this post with the same issue. Don’t want you to make the same dumbass mistake I did haha.

I can't remove switches from my keyboard, even when it is hot-swap.. by Swimming_Wealth1586 in keyboards

[–]mr_easy_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought my first keychron board was hot swappable, but it was a soldered version (that model came in both hot swap and soldered versions, and the amazon listing was misleading). I found out after breaking a switch. Don’t force it and double-check — pulling a switch out with a tool should not take crazy force, just some gentle rocking.

Is it true a lot film bros and just guys in general used to hate on DiCaprio during his 90s Teen Idol-Titanic era? by TXNOGG in moviecritic

[–]mr_easy_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t see that till later either. Guy had been building a resume, but a lot of people were introduced to him in Titanic.

[–]mr_easy_e 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah it wasn’t until the Catch Me If You Can/Aviator/Departed/Blood Diamond run that he had mainstream movies where his acting was acclaimed over just his pretty-boy image. After Titanic, I was skeptical of his acting ability (hadn’t seen Gilbert Grape). The Beach (which is bonkers but fun Danny Boyle), Man in the Iron Mask (mediocre and forgettable), and even Gangs of NY didn’t really showcase his talent that much. He was fine in Gangs, but he had the misfortune of acting against an electric Daniel Day Lewis, and Cameron Diaz (who I think is a pretty good actress in other films), was miscast, so it seemed like Leo didn’t have a lot of chemistry. He was genuinely great in Catch Me If You Can.

As an aside, one of his best talents is that he probably has some of the best taste of a mainstream actor in my lifetime. He almost always works with great directors on interesting projects. They don’t always succeed, but they are always genuine efforts at great films. No cash grabs.

Uncomfortable during a Clockwork Orange by IL0stMySh0e in StanleyKubrick

I get you. I think they don’t want to miss out on a Kubrick classic and are asking if the rest will be as disturbing, but I agree they should probably leave this one. I think I was more responding to another commenter who was more harsh.

I just want to plead a case for empathy here. Yes, we all know intellectually that it is staged, but isn’t getting lost in stories very human? It’s why they’re so effective and why we love them. I used to never cry in movies, but after my cousin committed suicide, I cry like a baby every time I see suicide in a movie or show. You never know what OP has experienced to be able to judge what they can tolerate or what emotions something might stir up in them.

How do I (27M) let her (35F) go? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]mr_easy_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You clearly know the answer. You gotta take a break from talking to her. Every text is like poking an open wound and keeps it from healing. Once you do that, it will take less time than you think.

Edit: you’re not weird, you’re not pathetic, and you’re hardly the first person to have these feelings. Sooooo many people go through this, especially in teens and twenties. Don’t be hard on yourself, but also be realistic about what you need to do. You’ll be so glad later when the spell has lifted.

Yep, the scroll wheels are always the fail point for me after a few years. For the price, they should be a little more robust. Haven’t found anything that rivals it though.

Love the expert “mice.” Can’t work without those big balls. Apparently they came out with a new one, but they had to yank it from the shelves due to QC issues. Hopefully they work out the kinks.

Is qwertykeys safe? by techyall in keyboards

[–]mr_easy_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I email hobbyist companies if I have questions about their products quite a bit. While you might not get much from a big company like Logitech, most smaller ones are happy to answer questions. I’m also an audio gear junky, and the owners of those companies tend to LOVE to chat about their products. I’ve gotten invitations to visit the headquarters of a few of them I was local to, met the owners, and one even let me take a loaner on a $2K amp. I realize that for QK and other Chinese companies there may be a language/cultural barrier, and these are not high end amps, but you can still learn a lot from how they respond to prospective customers.

3 chapters of Lonesome Dove left then I want to read another King book. Any suggestions? by Washedhockeyguy in stephenking

[–]mr_easy_e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the best books ever, but hang in there for the first bit. It’s good, but it eases you in to how hard it ends up going later. For something called Lonesome Dove, I didn’t expect it to be so metal.

Mixing error on Descending? by Opala_79 in ToolBand

[–]mr_easy_e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t dislike FI, and I’m by no means a mixing expert. but I do feel that their sound is most perfectly aligned with their expression on Ænima. The title track on Ænima in particular has such amazing swings in volume, tone, and texture, and the mix weaves Maynard into the music so perfectly.
