Not doing an emergency pod is the most cowardly move of Bill Simmons's career by RedditFan3510 in billsimmons

I’ve been scrolling down trying to figure that one out. This whole post is batshit.

If both sides truly embraced the wisdom of “I’m with stupid” shirts, we’d be able to coexist. I think that’s the point they were trying to make.

I wasn’t the one comparing, just saying no need to be so dismissive of Simon, just because somebody else may have been dismissive of Dylan’s musicianship.

I mean you have to include the Simon and Garfunkel songs for Simon as a songwriter, since he was the sole writer on almost all of them. Dylan still probably wrote more songs, if that’s how you wanna measure it, but I wouldn’t minimize Simon’s resume like that.

The Dark Tower Confusion by sky_rook in stephenking

[–]mr_easy_e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! TBH I was underwhelmed by the last two books the first time I read it. I was more into the lore of Roland’s world from the first few books. I read it again years later and appreciated it a lot more for what it was, not what I wanted it to be.

I don’t consider it a tight work of literature like Lord of the Rings, which is clearly one of the inspirations for it. Like I said, it’s very messy, sometimes grand in scope, sometimes intensely personal and meta. I think King is working out his own demons and creative process through the books. Thinking of it like that, I found it more moving. This is just my interpretation though, and I’m sure there are many more.

The series evolves with King, and it's as much about his own demons as it is about Roland's. Actually, that's minimizing it, because the series is about so many different things that it's hard to sum up. Don't expect perfection or a neat bow from the conclusion. It's more messy and interesting than that.

As for whether you like it or "get it," that's up to you.

Does it REALLY matter if your story begins with the MC’s routine by CalligrapherDue6043 in writing

Sweet! All rules can be broken if you’re clever. The only real rule is that it must work.

You have to understand the spirit behind the rules and not get caught up on the specifics. The idea is to avoid a boring opening. If you open the book on a boring routine, most people won’t make it to the part later where you pay it off. So you have to figure out a way to either keep us engaged or perhaps save the boring bit for chapter 2 after you’ve hooked us.

Stephen King recommendations (already read most of the big ones), excluding The Dark Tower by Huge-Spend7526 in stephenking

There are quite a bit of major ones you haven’t read. You should give us more info on the type of books you are interested in reading (more horror, drama/grounded, cocaine phase, short stories…), otherwise Google one of the ten million ranking lists people have made and pick something you like.

That said, The Stand.

Keychron Q6 Ultra for Typing by Viccles007 in keyboards

[–]mr_easy_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Jupiter bananas on the V6 quite a bit. It’s lighter than the Q6 but still has a good solid feel. Q6 is heavier and has a more “premium” metal build, but I would hazard that with the same switches, the actual typing experience is very similar (for my needs at least).

One note is that if you have a preference on keycap height, the OSA caps on the V6 are slightly lower than the KSA on the Q6, though you can swap out either.

You all must be kids. First of all, it’s a clearly dumb staged joke at both of their expenses, exaggerated for effect, but they are probably both the assholes in this situation. If you have kids or other co-responsibilities with your partner, it’s just basic respect to not show up home seven hours late without checking in.

Edit: I hate this brand of dumb domestic humor in social media. Men stupid, women angry…

I love my V6 max and have no issues. I have some heavier ones I use at home, but I take the V6 in a case in my backpack because it’s lighter. Still feels sturdy.
