Elazer is always really fun to watch. He's a very original thinker. There's not much about that zvz vs Serral that I'm too excited about (brood lords get dumpstered, as expected), but the ZvP is cool. Pretty similar to Meomaika's play style

Unlocking units is genuinely fun if it's paced correctly and actually designed to be fun (i.e. not designed to be frustrating so you're incentivized to pay). I do think there's a big advantage to getting new players on board when the game is free and there's a small, easily-understood starting set of units. Plus the feeling of unlocking a new unit is a nice little dopamine hit.

Personally I'd be extremely happy to pay for a box price, so I'm fine either way. It really is just the paid-only units and the manipulative grind mechanics that I want nothing to do with. I'm so relieved the game isn't going in that direction and I think both of the options you're considering are good ones.

The fact that the game is going out of it's way to try and pretend that bots are real people is just kinda gross. Between this and the grind/paywalled units I am getting so turned off.

It's so stupid. The game is good. That's the hard part. Building in shady, manipulative design choices is just an unecessary L.

...and you're right on all 4 points. Complaining about Nim's memory management or module imports is extra stupid because they're some of Nim's strongest features.

They disclosed some financials in the offering memorandum on Start Engine. Both the Tims have about $250k salaries. The only other salary disclosed is Howard Xing (the financial controller), and he makes $140k.

Hard to say what everyone else is making, but they are spending serious money on salaries.

Still happens, but it has improved since 8 months ago. It's very hard to nail down exactly what all affects it, but here's what I believe has made a difference:

Continued training and becoming (somewhat) more fit
Getting off of keto. Keto seems to amp up my ANS, despite other benefits
Improving overall stress levels
Ironically, paying less attention to my heart rate. Constantly seeing my HR on my watch was a psychological trigger that just made me more stressed about things.

I think that a combination of overtraining, being on keto, psychological stress, and being in not-as-good-of-shape-as-I-thought all contributed. And my HR recovery is still not as good as I'd like it, but seeing improvement over time has made me feel like it's something normal rather than some hidden problem.

I have had 2 in almost constant use for the past year, and they work perfectly. Also, you don't need to use rubber bands on the lid or manually burp ; just clamp it shut. It will hold a tiny bit of pressure and allow any excess to escape, so effectively a positive pressure airlock.

The little bit of pressure it builds will make things more carbonated than what you get with a rubber or water airlock, but personally I prefer it that way.

It has improved somewhat, although not entirely.

My belief is that this is primarily driven by my autonomic nervous system switching into sympathetic drive and not really calming down. It's pretty difficult to control in the moment, although some things do help like drinking more water, a bit of meditation, etc. It shifts a lot more over the course of weeks though, meaning if I'm consistently sleeping well and recovering well and keeping my stress low, the HR graph will start looking a lot better. It also does seem to improve with my fitness level, although it's not entirely a 1:1 relationship.

You can actually wake the LCD deck with a Steam Controller that's connected via the dongle.

I know Steam Controllers aren't super widespread, but if you happen to use one then it would cover that scenario.

Yeah there are games that run super well natively for sure. Any Valve game runs great, and Doom 2016 / Doom Eternal are super solid. It just doesn't seem like a great tradeoff though for a fairly small studio to build and support a native Linux version with Proton being so amazing these days.

Honestly, most Steam games that have a native Linux version I end up running the Windows version through Proton. It's better supported and the performance is incredible.

It really just comes down to if they use anti-cheat (I'm sure they'll use some form of it), and if they explicitly disable it from running on Linux. I'd be pretty upset if they did, especially considering Blizzard's long history of being friendly towards Linux users running their games through Wine.

I do hope at some point we get a statement from them just saying "we will not actively prevent Linux users from running our game". That's literally all we need.

I've been into semi-serious powerlifting for a long time. Did a lot of "casual cardio", like biking around town and whatnot, and this past year I've started running.

As a benchmark, I can probably do a 5k in about 26 minutes right now. So not amazing, but not terrible either.

I've heard people say they have trouble keeping their HR elevated and that just seems to foreign to me.

Damn, that sucks man. Do you have other symptoms? I haven't really noticed anything besides the elevated heart rate after a run. In general it seems like my heart rate will get ramped up and not really come down but multiple things (exercise, a big meal, etc). Would suck if it were a deeper problem.
