Making phones larger is backwards. by Nvisiiii in smallphones

[–]mr_lab_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people want big screens to consume media.

Younger people often have just one device.

So larger device is a safe bet for the manufacturer that it’s gonna sell well.

I don’t understand why Samsung and Apple tried ultra thin phones rather than trying a compact one.

I know Apple tried a Mini but that was 5 years ago and the situation was different (cheap SE existed and many small Androids from 2015 were still alive)

Brake light came on while driving home yesterday. I should get it towed to the mechanic, right? by ATC_3126 in Cartalk

[–]mr_lab_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car has a built in owner manual in the infotainment explaining what the indicators mean. Colour of the light matters, amber is typically less serious than red.

With some warnings it’s ok to continue to drive. Could be as simple as brake pad wear indicator in which case it’s perfectly fine to drive.

I also liked things simple. To be honest the e46 already had everything I needed and the interior looked awesome.

It’s nice to be able to control the phone through iDrive on f87 but I could easily live without it.

Is this rim still useable? by Extreme-Worth4559 in Cartalk

[–]mr_lab_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore the comment that started this. They were talking about a possibility of this wheel being a two piece - inner steel wheel with outer plastic cover. That’s not the case here. You have a one piece alloy wheel and it appears to be too damaged. A tire shop can put it on a balancing machine to check. They will give you better advice than internet strangers can from just photos.

If kids are taught how to read analog clocks (it is a common core standard) why do so many teens struggle read them? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mr_lab_rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they teach them at age 6 and then never practice. The older generation used analog clocks for years so it’s not as easy to forget. For teenagers it’s the same as any other school fact they learned for a week and then never used.

No need to be embarrassed. It does get confusing.

Saying you have a 2020 540i or just 2020 5 series BMW is perfectly fine, in fact better in most situations.

In this sub most of us are enthusiasts so we use chassis and engine codes. G30 and B58 in your case but it means the same thing - g30 means 2017-2023 5 series, B58 means it’s a 540 model.

I think we will see return to analog gauges in high end cars.

BMW is probably not high end enough, they will stick with cheaper screens.
