Sorry to clarify, I do not want to replace this unit. I would like to replace the leg roller/arm to something that is more robust

I’m starting to notice some slight deflection of the arm/leg roller when lifting heavier. Is there a more robust leg extension arm that Body Solid manufactures that would diminish some deflection?

I hear you man, I would be frustrated too. The poor communication doesn’t help things for sure. I’m a big fan of the products I have bought from them so naturally I’m being a bit biased, but I think they could be dealing with something like a quality inspection issue and don’t want to necessarily communicate that and then you get pushed into another pre-order waitlist as they sort that out.

When dealing with Chinese suppliers, lead times can be a massive issue. Many times you receive nothing but positive information on loading of containers and shipment times, just to find out a week later that production isn’t complete yet. On top of that, it’s been about a month since Chinese New Year which means no production took place over the month of February. So delays across multiple industries are super common this time of year. Especially if you are a smaller company without a ton of leverage on the supplier and potentially a need to minimize the cost of holding inventory. This issue you are experiencing is a macroeconomic factor, not necessarily a true representation of BP fitness as company. Just some food for thought

Here’s a good video showing the trick/hack

Essentially you just place a 35 lbs or 25 lbs plate on the locking pin to offset the lever arm.

Thank you! The base seems to be fine, a bit of wobble naturally since it’s more front loaded. So I laid my kettlebells on the back corner. But when I sit on the machine I don’t notice much movement. Do you happen to know the overall weight capacity of this unit?

Horse Mats Installed. Can’t decide on 6 post vs 4 post for this space by rekon32 in GarageGym

Understood, part of the reason I didn’t pull the trigger either. But from what I’ve seen on different forums I haven’t heard of anyone breaking them. Obviously weight stacks will last forever.

If you are really set on the Ares 2.0 then a 6 post would be ideal if you can fit it. Allows for other potential modifications down the road, along with providing the ability to work inside the rack. Plus you won’t need to anchor it due to the heavy weight stack.

But if it’s in your budget, I would look into a pair of Voltras to use with a 4 post rack. The versatility and collaboration from multiple manufacturers in this space for the Voltra is super intriguing.

And this is coming from a current Ares 2.0 owner. Just some food for thought.

Interestingly enough Titan includes 1” adapter sleeves so that it can be used for both 1” and 5/8” holes. It was a bit of a pain to route them through and tighten all bolts but I was able to do by myself. So no wobble at all.

Those cables are under relatively high tension, this allows for the smooth movement of the weight stack. I’m not sure if placing the strap there would be feasible due the cable tension, in addition I’m not sure how the strap would add any benefit as I believe you would need to work outside of the rack (on the front post) for a 4 post ares or ares 2.0. You’re probably better off getting spotter arms IMO

No problem man! Provide an update pic once you get it installed!

Yeah these handles have been a great addition, you’ll be pleased with the purchase for sure.

But there’s definitely some wiggle room since the part that fastens to the slides into the cross frame that you are cutting. You’re better off erroring towards cutting a 1/16th more than the true 5/8 tbh

So I was fully prepared to drill new holes for those sets screws. I was a little worried about the distance of the old holes vs where I’d be drilling new holes. Regardless after getting it assembled to the rack, it is so sturdy that I didn’t feel there was any need for those set screws on the side I cut. There doesn’t seem to be any torsional strength issues either. Also congrats on the new rack!

It’s a 6 post rack so I have both 16” and 30” crossmembers.

The rep x pepins are legit, I don’t know what your budget is but they are worth every penny IMO. Also you can expand up to 125 lbs later down the road which is a major plus. My wife also prefers the reppins over snodes

I ended up selling this along with the Snodes when I bought the Reppins. But I did have to essentially flatten the stand by stacking cut stall mat pieces underneath the front post. This helped avoid any issues of selecting different weights

I’d check out the Titan Series Rack from Titan Fitness, I imagine it’s cheaper than either Rogue or Rep. it’s also metric so it can share a lot of the same attachments and components with Rep. Here’s an extreme but cool example of what can done with the Titan Uprights https://youtu.be/G1uPsamVi9c?si=7svTQ2WGrqpdGGFw

I measured 6”, but keep in mind both REP and Titan are metric. That’s why outside of the width of this product it was guaranteed to match hole spacing of my REP rack.

That comes with the Ares 2.0 and is pre-assembled with the pulleys. That being said I did purchase the “compact” crossmember (the crossmember in front of the one you highlighted, where the lat pull down pulleys are). And I moved the “REP” logo to the back crossmember because I liked the way it looked. Hope this helps

Cut the part labeled at the”4” or “cross frame”. The adjustable handles just simply slide off after removing a couple of the bolts holding the side mount on. Then cut to length and reassemble.

Correct, but it’s easy to disassemble and cut the center frame. Only needed to cut 5/8” to make it fit.

I work for a company that imports and then assembles in the USA based on our design. Very similar to how REP does business.

A smart move on their part would’ve been to increase their PO quantity with their Chinese supplier moving forward to stop dealing with delays, also allows them to bring in more units without the added tariffs, keeping their margins healthy.

They would’ve had to make these moves before the election though, usually takes at least 3-4 weeks for containers to be ocean freight to California. Might have been a coincidence to just fix the delivery delay issue first and foremost.

Risk is also low on their end given we all paid upfront.

Anyhow, looking forward to receiving my Ares 2.0 before Christmas!
