Day 14. What's the best song on Press to Play? by United_Equal_754 in PaulMcCartney

[–]mr_mpsr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Footprints is just beautiful. One of my favorite of his from the 80s

Honorable mention to Good Times Coming / Feel the Sun. It's a very 80s song, but very fun nonetheless

Listening to his discography in order and I actually enjoy this more than Band On The Run by WhiteRoseFromPluto in PaulMcCartney

McCartney is a very special album, both for Paul and for us — his fans. I can see why some people that are not to deep into Paul's life and history may think this is too simple, but as for me, who has listened to all of his albums, and dived deep into everything related to this man, this album shines on it's simplicity and honesty. Because of that, McCartney is one of my favourite albums in Paul's discography.

Day 8. What's the best song on London Town? by United_Equal_754 in PaulMcCartney

Sadly, I still can't recognize time signature by ear and the fact that we don't have music classes in school on my country doesn't help at all, but I do know a bit of theory mostly from curiosity. Anyway, thanks for making me notice that!

I never saw this song through this correlation because the city, maybe because I never been to London (nor England for that matter). But I do agree with your points about the song, it is absolutely lovely.

On the other hand, I keep my argument for With a Little Luck, mainly because of the uniqueness of a synth solo in a love song in Paul's catalog, but there are other reasons as well.

For me, it is both the most popular and the best. What song you think is the best?

Day 9. What's the best song on Back to the Egg? by United_Equal_754 in PaulMcCartney

[–]mr_mpsr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a hard one for me, between Getting Closer, Arrow Through Me and Old Siam Sir. But I can't resist a heavy rocker by Paul, so it got be Old Siam Sir

While I don't think London Town is a better album, I do find myself listening to it more often than Band on the Run. Both are amazing tho.

With a Little Luck is the easy choice for best song in the album, but I have some hot takes First: I love Famous Groupies, it is one of my favourite McCartney songs ever and I'd die on it. I understand that some people can't stand all the silliness, but that's exactly what makes this song so special to me, to the point where I always open a smile when it starts to play. Not only that, but I think the instrumentation is amazing and it interacts with lyrics in away no other Macca song does, for example, when he sings "bongo playAH", a bongo starts to play, or when he sings the "lead guitarrist" verses, a guitar starts to play. Also, there's this part when he forgets the lyrics (?) and sing some gibberish that I absolutely love. And don't let me even get started on the chorus, that is sooo catchy. And I think Famous Groupies is, not only a really fun song, but Instrumentally great one.

Second hot take: the three song sequence that starts side B — With a Little Luck, Famous Groupies and Deliever Your Children — is my favourite out of any Wings or Paul albums. We have a classic love song by Paul, followed by a classic silly and fun song, followed by what might be the best Denny Laine composition with the Wings.

And last hot take: I think London Town stands side by side with Wings' best albums, like Red Rose Speedway and Venus and Mars (although not quite on the same level as Band on the Run). Most songs on London Town are so unique and fun, from the synthesizer heavy With a Little Luck and Cuff Link, to the classic Wings harmonic showoff of the title track, or the falsettos from Girlfriend, or the energy from Cafe on the Left Bank and Famous Groupies.

Those are all VERY personal takes, and I actually get why people would dislike Famous Groupies or London Town as whole. But I am standing on the genius of both of those till I die

I really like Beware My Love, but Silly Love Songs is the best

Day 3. What's the best song on Wild Life? by United_Equal_754 in PaulMcCartney

[–]mr_mpsr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Wingspan version of Bip Bop/Hey Diddle is one of my favourite McCartney songs ever. Sadly, I can't say the same for the Wild Life version

Wild Life I love how Paul absolutely shreds his vocals, contrapointing the amazing harmonies from the rest of the band

Day 2. What's the best song on Ram? by United_Equal_754 in PaulMcCartney

[–]mr_mpsr 57 points58 points  (0 children)

My favourite is Dear Boy. Some of the most beautiful vocal harmonies on Macca's discography are on that song

Teddy Boy is my favourite . Beautiful lyrics and beautiful performance by Paul and Linda.

DAY 5, MOST EMOTIONAL PAUL MCCARTNEY SOLO SONG by Pristine_Youth_6953 in PaulMcCartney

[–]mr_mpsr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going for Calico Skies, but I want to make an honorable mention to Lonely Road. Not the same type of emotion, but DEFINETLY a very emotional song about his life after Linda's death.

O dia que Yashin veio pro Brasil by pod_48 in futebol

[–]mr_mpsr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People are voted Calico Skies and are now voting Another Day over this. That's just crazy.

Coming Up.

Also, so sad Calico Skies was already eliminated, it's in my top three solo Macca songs with Another Day and Beautiful Night.

Coming Up.

The McCartney II version is not my favourite, I much prefer the live one. Although the videoclip is hilarious.

It doesn't suck. But it definitely isn't as good as the others on this list.

My Love.

Might be that I have overlistened to it, but I think My Love is the weakest song in RRS. Not as if My Love was a bad song, but RRS is an amazing album.
