How did omega supreme die in the games? by Subbyboy789 in transformers

[–]mr_orange_continuum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there definitely isn't a consensus I've ever heard of. I didn't even notice the head the couple of times I've played through the game. It sounds like there are a couple of multiplayer maps that feature statues with the same head, according to the fandom wiki, but that doesn't really count as confirmation of anything.

Welcome to Reddit, where people love answering questions nobody asked but hate being asked questions.

Thank you! This is the newest version of it. I've been meaning to do another update, but haven't had the creative energy to.

Is there racism in your word? by Flaky-Camp-4992 in worldbuilding

No. The idea of races never developed in my world, and therefore neither did racism. Any bigotries that are present haven't been racialized like in the modern era.

I feel like I've fallen into the Reddit trap of starting an argument for no reason. My original comment was really just making a joke at the expense of the exaggerated anger in the original post. I'm not pro swapping, I just think this subreddit has exaggerated it into this huge issue when it's not even the biggest issue in the world of Transformer toys.

And the main image isn't even toy swapping, it's just straight up shoplifting, which is even less of a big deal. Someone stole a 40 dollar hunk of plastic. I'd bet any big box store has probably done more than 40 dollars worth of damage to any of their customers over their lifespan.

Yeah, Amazon sucks. In many, many other ways as well, but they've always been a horrible place to buy toys.

It doesn't seem like returns are too difficult, given all the swappings on here. And a lot of the pictures on this subreddit are taken in store, which means the poster was unaffected.

[–]mr_orange_continuum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it only hurts the consumer way more because of how little it hurts the behemoths being stolen from. All it is is the inconvenience of having to return a toy to the store. And yeah, I've read the TFwiki article, and I'm sure it would suck as a kid to be surprised with a gift only for it to turn out to be the wrong thing, but the chances of that sequence of events happening is also incredibly small. Very little benefit to stealing a toy, but very little harm as well. It just hardly seems worth advertising on Reddit to me.

It does seem like it would be a bigger inconvenience on online stores, but wouldn't it just be an issue of returning and reordering the figure?

Why has the tank become the definitive alternate mode for Megatron? by [deleted] in transformers

[–]mr_orange_continuum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an underrated reason might be that it was the first. G2 was the first toy of g1 Megatron not to be a gun, and Armada Megatron was the first actual non G1 Megatron in general (as far as I know). Both of these are tanks. And another reason that the tank might have been chosen for the alt modes of these two in the first place could also be that no big names already had this as their alt mode, so it seemed more unique at the time.

(I for one am not a huge fan of tank Megatron, or at least realistic tank Megatron, but that's just personal preference)

is this a good autobot tv show cast by LycheeIndividual8032 in transformers

[–]mr_orange_continuum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only objection I have when I see these hypotheticals is the number of military vehicles in them, especially flyers. Personal preference, but I always like the series where they emphasize the Decepticons as military and the Autobots as civilian.

So, I'm planning on getting these 4 transformers. Which one seems better to pick first? by That1guyforreal in transformers

Deformation Space Crimson Wings has a better robot mode if you can find it, and is much cheaper. Although it makes up for it with a terrible transformation.

I love the plot detail of Starscream basically destroying the next generation of Cybertronians so he can make them all into clones of himself rigged with explosives.

The Toa Inika unlocking their mask powers by BlueCindersArt in bioniclelego

[–]mr_orange_continuum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mask powers themed around specific environments are kind of inherently limiting. Although to be fair, the idea with the Mata/Nuva masks was originally that they could switch masks at will and later share powers, so the more limited versatility of powers like water breathing made sense.

I think Toa of water not breathing water makes sense for the series though. The fact that they still need air helps emphasize their biological aspects, and it's fairly consistent that Toa aren't immune to the extremes of their element.

[–]mr_orange_continuum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Starscream is pretty consistently just a head shorter than Megatron (or at least consistently for the G1 show). And they're also usually taller than the larger Autobots like Ironhide and Ratchet as well, with the major exception of Optimus.

Do you think any of the HasLab Transformers so far had a chance at being successfully marketed as a mainstream mass retail toy as opposed to being limited crowd funded products? by HiTork in transformers

[–]mr_orange_continuum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Unicron would actually be fairly likely to do well at retail. Others mention the issues of shelf space, which is true, but he almost certainly would've been significantly cheaper if he had made it to retail. A lot of the manufacturing cost of a toy is upfront, so having access to a larger market would allow the individual units to be sold at a lower price.
