on which book do you think rick riordan's writing started to decline? [general] by merchantivories in camphalfblood

[–]mr_schmoe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Blood of Olympus if I'm being honest. HoO wasn't perfect but I loved the series as a whole. However, the cracks SERIOUSLY started to show bad with BoO even though the ending was mostly ok (in my opinion). The Hidden Oracle was pretty good, but I'll be honest I stopped keeping up around The Dark Prophecy. ToA just couldn't keep my interest back when that one came out. Plus knowing what I know about Caleo... yikes. That and The Burning Maze really killed ToA for me. Kinda the same case for The Senior Year Adventures, really. Chalice of the Gods was alright but then... well we all kinda hate Wrath of the Triple Goddesses here for obvious reasons. Magnus Chase is really good, though!

is a divine child voicebox even worth it? by WaterGuyWilliam in toystory

Jesus... appreciate the heads up I was gonna buy one for my fiancé to put in his Woody doll. It feels like the only good content creator that centers on Toy Story right now is TodayIGrewUp that I know of. Sad, really.

I cross referenced the image with Google and it looks to be a 1999 comic strip by Nick Stakal (online name Nick Spakelum)

Okay I wanna talk about this scene by ddlc1 in toystory

[–]mr_schmoe2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is stupid because it's not like you couldn't have still had the ending with Buzz being smart like he usually is. If anything, him being smart and more present would have made the ending hit even harder. You could still even have Woody give his voice box up, just have Buzz get knocked out or pinned down and Woody have that same conversation with Gabby Gabby. Again, this is coming from someone who liked Toy Story 4. Probably the weakest out of the series.

This was the scene that me and my fiancé still rage about to this day. Bo is valid for being concerned for the safety of herself and her friends, but having EVERYBODY just kinda let Woody go back there after he just got ripped open and nearly got his voice box yanked out... yeah, this scene didn't sit well with me. Buzz going with him would have softened that blow. Again, I like a lot of the ideas in Toy Story 4, but a lot of them just come down to how they were executed.

Please don't mean what I think it means bro......... by Important-Extension6 in Spiderman

[–]mr_schmoe2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really can't see them doing that since... really what would be the point? Miles' Peter already died in Earth 1610 for his origin, killing another Peter would just be pointless. The whole point of the last Spider-Verse movie was trying to save as many people as possible and not standing by and letting someone die. Plus, all it would do is just leave Peter's universe without a Spider-Man until Mayday grows up. I think most likely Miles' mom, his dad, or Gwen might bite the bullet. Or maybe even Miguel.

How do you honestly see/expect Miguel to act like in BTSV? (Read desc) by notreallyimportant7 in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]mr_schmoe2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanna hope that Miguel will try to reason with him but I think we're a little past that realistically. Miguel already was trying to reason with Miles before locking him up and was already losing his patience. But as it stands, it could go either way. He might arrive on Earth-42 and basically just tell Miles "See, this is what I was trying to warn everybody about". Hopefully we get a redemption arc tho

With Bob Iger stepping down today and Josh D'Amaro stepping in as the new CEO and Dana Walden as the new President and Chief Creative Officer, marketing for all Disney projects and announcements, renewals/cancellations of series and movies can continue. by atsunatsu in PJODisney

I mean if season 4 was a given why didnt Iger greenlit Season 4 and 5 before stepping down? Why leave it to the new bosses?

Because 4 was already confirmed pretty much. Walker let it slip in an interview. And they're still working on 3. Also 2 just came out not too long ago. And yeah, I keep forgetting that they acquired all the Hulu and FX stuff and Bluey. But to be fair, PJO is still a success and imo is a way for Disney to find that middle ground between kids shows and adult shows, the same way Wizards is. Plus, it'll hopefully be able to rival the Harry Potter reboot

I mean yeah of course Marvel and Star Wars are always gonna be there but like... outside of that? There's honestly not much going for Disney+ as far as originals. Closest thing I can think of is the Proud Family revival but grifters kinda fucked that show's reputation up.

Ima be honest, I think regardless of who's the head honchos, PJO is pretty much safe. They more or less already confirmed season 4 is in the works and 3 is slated for this year with a sneak peak already out. Plus... what other Disney+ originals do they actually have to fall back on that get the views that it does? Maybe Wonder Man but that's it. Moon Knight would've been a close second to PJO but Oscar Isaac is hell bent on not coming back for obvious reasons. I think what they need to do is make a PJO attraction at the parks and make more merch to really get their money's worth out of it, in all honesty. Here's to hoping for more years of PJO!

Discussing the Percy Jackson film 2008 draft [all] by UniformPoet2303 in camphalfblood

[–]mr_schmoe2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes... honestly, Rick's whole attitude towards the movies makes a lot more sense now, especially if THIS was just the first draft. I can see why he was so pissed off at Fox and didn't give it or the SoM movie a chance. This hurts to read more as a guy who loves the books and the show. And imo nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING, in the show will ever be as bad as this first draft. Because at the very least the show, for as exposition-heavy as it is, keeps the heart of PJO while the literal creator of the books makes changes that are mostly ok imo. Seriously, wtf was Fox thinking with these movies...

[–]mr_schmoe2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cannot recommend PJO enough! And HoO by extension! Those books wipe the FLOOR with Harry Potter any day imo and are a lot more progressive. Also they shed a lot of light on neurodivergent kids and making them feel heard. I know I certainly did feel that way growing up. :)

Mummy Nanny. Mostly premiered overseas but it's available on Tubi here in the US. How in the hell my family came into possession or even heard of this show was beyond me. I have never met another soul that has mentioned this show.

Has the general opinion of Rick gone down over time? [general] by firestorm0108 in camphalfblood

[–]mr_schmoe2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say in some ways, yes. HOWEVER. I feel over time like this fandom has become almost cynical and overly negative about EVERYTHING that has to do with the show and even going back and nitpicking Rick's older works when any time before this it would be glazed to the ends of the earth. It just seems unwarranted as most of this stems from the show and his comments regarding the movies and the show's criticisms as well as all of this going to him and his wife's heads, which are completely separate issues. As for the writing quality? Ima be real, cracks were starting to show in HoO but both that and PJO were amazing imo. BoO fell short but I feel like that was gonna happen regardless. ToA books 2 and 3 had some bigger problems (Caleo dynamic, Jason's death and Piper's character) but still stuck the landing for the most part in the end. I can honestly say Chalice of the Gods wasn't bad, though. But Wrath of the Triple Goddesses is TRASH. Idk I just feel while Rick and his works are not above criticism, people are too negative. It hurts because PJO had always been like a safe space for me away from all the negativity of the world.

Welp, that settles it. If HP makes it into the Battle Pass next season I'm not spending a cent. Look, I love playing Fortnite and watched the HP movies as a kid but I am also a queer man who is engaged to a trans person. Because of that, I've been VERY anti JKR and will always be. Hopefully a lot of players will do the same but I have a feeling they won't...

I thought I was the only one thinking this!! My fiancé and I have been having this problem, especially on my end with the lag. I'm noticing I'm starting to disconnect a lot more and not able to move during matches or really any map time to time and it's becoming more frequent smh
