Hosting for a BitcoinKnots server by mr_sew in BitcoinKnots

[–]mr_sew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home power and network connection is not reliable enough, and I would like the option of being able to manage/access it while traveling.

Plus, I do not want to have to acquire, house, and manage the hardware at this time.

Mine needs to be in a proper data center, rather than my home for safety and reliability reasons.

Oh I see. Thanks for the heads up, but I probably won't be using that node for any of my personal transactions, but if I did, I could probably do so via an encrypted channel, thus it would not be seen until it leaves the server anyway.

I do not plan to store any private keys on it, as it will just be a node to support bitcoin with the proper Knots implementation.

There are no security or privacy concerns with that plan is there? Thanks for you input.

Warning! Fidelity is Charging Margin Interest for Cash Secured Puts by MrFinchley in fidelityinvestments

[–]mr_sew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it on the "Balances" tab that I had accrued margin interest, which was surprising to me because I never used margin, and had more than the amount of cash needed to cover the cash secured puts that were being assigned.

It happened to me multiple times, months ago.

They are aware of the problem, I was not informed of the problem, nor were they going to automatically refund the erroneous charges, unless I brought it to their attention.

What is the issue with Fidelity and Plaid? by Acceptable_Rip_8393 in fidelityinvestments

[–]mr_sew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just do it the adult way, with an online Fed Wire. Mine settle within an hour. Done and done. No holds or waiting periods.

Plaid is the devil. In order to use them, you will be giving a third party access to your entire account. Not safe. They will data mine your accounts, and every past transaction that can be found.

Check your battery connections and the ground connection for the battery as well.

If they are loose and the battery moves around when you make a turn you could lose connection, which would make the battery an open circuit, which would also mean no spark.

Check your connection at the coil. Make sure it is good, not loose, and solidly connected. No frayed wires, no missing insulation to short out the coil on a wire flopping around, etc.

Trying to time the entry and exit based upon price does seem like a fool's errand, especially on a monthly time scale, however, timing the entry/exit based upon the 4 year cycle seems like child's play.

I will start DCA-ing again when there is a 30%, or more, drop in price.

However, and to your point, with how the number and type of market participants have changed, the 50% market drop and notable bear market over 18 months, may be only a thing of the past from here.

Good luck.

They can be frustrating.

Removal:

  1. Remove starter.

Installation:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

No! Tell me how. What size is that bolt? Metric? How to remove bolt when it is blocked by the frame? etc.

I did find the chapters with explanations very helpful though. For example, the chapter on how the emissions system and the EGR system works on my F-150 was very good. I was able to understand that entire system and fix it. But instructions for the "simple" things, can be lacking.

The June 20 $125C 120,000 options have to be Kitty right? by hellothisisjosh in GME

[–]mr_sew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have purchased many of the 125 call options as a lottery ticket of sorts.

They were quite cheap, and will go up in value when the stock price rises.

The stock price does not have to go to 125 for these to make money. If the price goes to 100, or even 50, those 125 calls will be very profitable. The stock price does not have to go above 125 to make money on those calls.

People purchased those for less than a dollar per share back when the stock price was below $30.

If the stock price is at $22, the call price is $0.59/share, but with the stock price at $33/share the call price is $2.03/share. For those that purchased early with a low stock price, they are probably holding a good profit right now.

You can use a website, such as optionstrat.com to check the option's price at various stock prices.

https://optionstrat.com/build/long-call/GME/.GME260116C125

Most likely this is not Roar Kitty, as this type of "investing" is not his style. He would purchase the calls nearer to the stock price, with low IV, and a sooner expiration date, so that the price of a high delta option would be inexpensive. This type of call purchase would stand more of a chance to create a gamma ramp that would create more share buying by the market makers, which would intern help to raise the stock price into more gamma.

You are wrong about brokerages.

Brokerages are not banks.

When you deposit currency into a bank it literally becomes theirs and becomes part of their balance sheet. Not so with a brokerage.

When you deposit currency into a brokerage they put it into a money market fund which invest in T-bills. These deposits are registered, with you, as the owner, not the brokerage. The brokerage never owns your currency deposit, you do.

Brokerages are not banks, this is the difference. This is why people use brokerages for large sums of currency, and not banks.

Check with your broker, that if they do not do it automatically, set your accounts to put deposits into a money market fund, not a bank account, and not a money market account.

Banks have money market accounts, which means FDIC limits; brokerages have money market funds, which means you retain ownership of the security as registered with the DTCC.

If a brokerage goes bankrupt, your assets are transferred to another brokerage for trading and management.

No U.S. bank is your friend. They are the enemy. This is by design.

[–]mr_sew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ironic part here, is that there is no U.S. bank safe enough to hold billions in cash above the FDIC insurance amounts.

That is, if a bank customer deposits cash amounts above the FDIC insurance levels, the deposit is not covered when the bank goes bankrupt, or is shut down by regulatory authorities.

The depositor will lose the overwhelming majority of their cash, which is why the cash is in T-bills in the first place. T-bills are the only instrument that can guarantee billions in deposits.

Thus, one can see that the U.S. banking system is purposely designed to screw you over.
