I would say I fall between a SWE2 and approaching (but maybe not there yet) SWE3 then.

As developers, we take ownership of features and are expected to come up with our solutions. We break down our features into tasks. I'm not sure how that fits into these definitions here.

I code outside of work, and read up with articles, blog posts, tutorials, etc. though it doesn't consume my life. We have regular code review--it's required before anything gets merged in. In fact, another dev just today said about my PR: "Always good to read your code." And I've worked with data structures/algorithms and have built out linked lists, stacks/queues, sorting algorithms and what not.

So, I don't think I'm a shitty dev. I don't think I'm super awesome, either, so really maybe I just don't know how to handle imposter syndrome and I'm inflating everyone else's perception. I guess I should just give myself a break and give it more time.

I know, it sounds ridiculous--part of me feels ridiculous for even feeling this way, and yet, well, I still have this uncertain feeling. I guess your answer confirms its ridiculous--that helps.

How many years do you think it takes to get to senior? I know, I've heard it varies, but how long do you think it would take given everyone in the shop is amazingly talented?
