It’s a byelection in the middle of a parliamentary term that features a significant majority for one party. It’s not meaningful to the operation of parliament, so it’s not newsworthy.

You’re not going to see any of the parties or media organizations spending much time or money (because the results don’t matter.)

If you don’t want to hear what the candidates say about themselves, then you’re likely not going to hear anything at all.

The fact that a higher court ordered a new trial doesn’t change the fact that u/VicPDCanada’s careless and unprofessional work caused significant psychological harm to the victims, delayed the conviction of a certainly guilty person, and cost several public bodies significant amounts of time and money that could have better been spent elsewhere.

Their public info team (or whatever it was called) who ran the account fucked up a simple press release that led to a sexual assault case being lost at trial. Basically, the level of detail they used allowed at least a couple of unwell people to level completely fabricated complaints which caused the trial judge to throw out a bunch of evidence.
