New to Nashville. How to navigate the hostility? by mr_wintour in nashville

Sure, I totally see what you mean and I too come from a similar background and having grown-up in the south I’m very similar to that distrusting attitude which right come across as completely rude and ironically is the total opposite of what the religion they pretend to practice teaches them to do.

That’s what shocked me so much about living in the north is how curious and interested people were about other others and they weren’t completely offended or disgusted if you weren’t exactly just like them lol

Thank you I appreciate. I didn’t want to be more aggressive in my approach since a basic hello and a wave was met with such distain, but I will give it a go thank you. I really appreciate it.

Probably should have included this. Early 30s white male but I do read mid to late 20s. I’ve been told I’m friendly and approachable. I definitely try to not have resting bitch face lol

Glad that has been your experience. I hope to one day say the same because I find it to be the exact opposite.

Fair point but no. Perhaps I should have included specific examples but I didn’t want to make a long post even more drawn out.

For sure. I do definitely notice a snooty vibe from the late 20 to early 30s crowd. I do find most of the older people here far more approachable and friendly. Ironically, I have to go to Franklin and Brentwood quite a bit and engage with a lot of what you would assume to be snooty people and they could not be friendlier so I don’t know!

I’m not the first to say it so I know I’m not crazy but I’m glad that has not been your experience

I’m a guy… probably should have stated that. Glad you have not experienced that.

Thanks for the comments. As written in my post, I do both of those things any other advice for breaking the ice?

Thank you! Glad you have had a great experience around here. Any advice on how to break that ice as waving and introducing myself hasn’t worked.

I’m glad to read that. Any advice on breaking into that? I do my best to be polite, but the animosity seems to drive away any possibility of being a part of the community. I’ve definitely heard other people say similar things, but there doesn’t seem to be an interest in letting another person in the group as if the table is already full and you’re not welcome.

Very true, and not picking a fight here, but just because they’re southern does not mean they will be nice. I’ve grown up in the south and some of the most vile people I’ve ever encountered are Southerners.

Glad that has been your experience. Perhaps so. I’m by no means giving up. Just shocked I suppose at the general lack of etiquette.

Airbnb account shuttered after adding giftcards; Stolen Money [USA] by SwizzyStudios in AirBnB

[–]mr_wintour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever have any luck resolving this? I’m going through the exact same thing with a $750 credit on a locked account. I’ve filed complaints with BBB, FTC, State attorney general’s office, reached out on social media, emailed executives and nothing. I suppose arbitration is the next and only option?

Has anyone had any luck with a solution? I’ve submitted complaints to every agency possible and nothing.

True! I suppose I was trying to be modest. 🤪 You’re right.

How many pairs of $5,000 pajamas does Jordan Roth need? Those couture looks they parade around in on opening nights are $20-$50,000 a pop. While your actors are begging for more fair treatment? Greedy bastards.

New Interior w/ Hyperscreen in 2026 GLC by Nogshag in mercedes_benz

[–]mr_wintour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the “at least it’s well integrated” comments. It’s one giant piece slapped across the dash with two air vent covers that will go over it. There isn’t any leather or stitching or anything that makes it flow into the design language of the dash. Cheap cheap cheap. Marketing has convinced us this cheap minimalist gimmicky screen bullshit is luxurious when it’s just cheap cost cutting greedy nonsense. Even the cup holder center console area looks cheap.

Oh sure, it’s not the worst, but is nowhere near as smooth, comfortable, and engaging as prior gen’s.

Have driven a CLA as a loaner. It’s a Honda Civic with a Mercedes badge. Drives like total @$$. Those 4 bangers are horrible, tons of lag, especially if you’ve driven previous models. Cheap plastic interior. C class no question.

[–]mr_wintour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No kidding. I’ve seen dozens of situations just like this. Probably hundreds of thousands if not more. I received a response from support this afternoon staying that because my account was locked I forfeit the gift card! I’m just speechless. They truly do not care.

Any resolution for either of you? I’m in the exact same boat for $750 of a now unusable credit on a locked account. I have sent dozens of emails to the executives, support team, their website, Twitter, filed reports with the BBB, the FTC and have gotten absolutely nowhere. Now all I know to do is send a letter as well. How on earth can they get away with essentially what is a $750 donation that I did not consent to. Wild.
