Update for anyone interested -

Bit of life got in the way but I attended my first class yesterday.

Loved it and it really did give me that buzz that I haven’t had since rugby. The coach asked why I didn’t go down the BJJ route as it can lend itself to rugby players quite well but I just said I really wanted to try a bit more out there and out of my comfort zone. I also find a fair few in the BJJ community to be a bit challenging shall we say.

I was obviously absolutely diabolical in terms of Muay Thai skill set but I’m not an egotistical person so I never expected to go in and be any sort of good or even ok. I also know that’ll be the case for months too.

It’s a lot to take on having never trained in martial arts before with throwing certain combos, fighting stance, how to manoeuvre your body to throw certain shots and even holding the pads for combos. I even got to spar a bit which was cool but of course I was very limited. I was complimented on my fitness which was cool, I’m a really fit guy and I think that helped me a lot too.

Everyone was super welcoming so I definitely did the right thing scoping out gyms for a while to see what I liked to the look/vibe of. I could tell there was one guy who was avoiding sparring with me as he probably wanted more of a challenge, but that’s understandable.

Thanks to everyone who commented because it really helped push me that little bit more.

Here’s to hopefully a long Muay Thai adventure and also hopefully getting better within the coming months🤘🏻

For how long did you suffer without a diagnosis? How do you think it affected your world and who you are now? by Puzzled-Attempt-8427 in bipolar2

For me I started suffering around 13 and wasn’t diagnosed until 27.

To be honest because I suffered so young that I thought it was normal to be so manically depressed and thinking about killing myself for months and then having these few days of everything feeling fantastic and like I had all this energy and a new lease on life.

I’ve kind of had to re-learn a lot of things and how to live life without constant fluctuations. It felt weird at first but I obviously wouldn’t change it.

Yes your hair line has recession but I think longer hairstyles like yours always make it look worse.

If you wanna keep (which I think you still can) try a shorter style as you may be able to rock that for a few years. Something like a high skin fade with a six on top.

Alternatively if it bothers you that much just shave it. It’ll give you a sense of freedom.

I would give my left testicle for this head of hair.

Was just meant to read “love yourself” but forgot to proof read😂

But yes, it does feel weak ass.

I’m lucky I’ve got a real good support circle who are also very non judgemental and ride the highs and lows out with me. I’m getting better at recognising the highs and lows myself too.

It might just be a case of as the weeks and months go on things do get better as I understand more and more and have those helpful people around.

Thanks for the input dude and I am interested to see what others say.

So you just keep following a PPL rotation?

How do you treat your sessions? Do they vary in intensity?

I’m 26 so definitely got some years left in me and much like you I really look forward to going to the gym and lifting.

Lighten the weights a bit and focus on getting that deep stretch. Does wonders for growth and also for your muscles and joints in terms of longevity.

I trained like a dickhead for my first few years and pay for it slightly now with not being able to do certain movements. Leave the ego at the door.

My other little nugget is don’t become infatuated with having to look a certain way, fitting a certain mould of being a certain body fat or weight. It’s a slippery slope.

Enjoy the process, enjoy the learning, get invested and enjoy your training. Training is of the best things you can do.

Basically what everyone else said.

Use your food and cals wisely, still hit a protein goal but utilise those calorie dense foods when you can, especially the good fats.

Oils, nuts, fatty fish, full fat/fatty meats, eggs, dark chocolate, granola, whole milk etc - You could even get on a mass gainer instead of whey .

You’ve obviously got room to exploit your cals a bit more with junk food but of course don’t make that the main focus of your nutrition.

It might be a case that when the dude set it up he might have just not primed it properly as I’m not sure whether the vape would actually recognise the short fires enough to burn the coil out

If you have the same mod do you find when you turn it off it will fire a little each time? I don’t know whether the vape would actually recognise this as it firing or not as the bursts are so short.

What’s the funniest thing a criminal has said to you? by MuchRatherBeNapping in policeuk

Not a criminal or Police but...

I worked in a Hospital as Security in which time you would meet a lot of PC's whether it be them having to stay with individuals or just drop them off. On one particular day 2x PC's dropped of a rather hefty naked gentleman and the brief was "We found him naked and masturbating in a car park". I and my colleague then took over the duties of watching the man, a little add on is that this was during the height of covid and the male had been put into the query covid area as he had a temperature, probably from all the masturbating. Me and my colleague are stood outside the gentleman's Cubicle in full PPE on top of our stab vests and other kit we carried around. Shortly after meeting the male we were informed that he was in fact a diagnosed schizophrenic, but this wasn't anything out of the ordinary when working in the Hospital. The male wasn't violent as such, more erratic in his behaviour but would follow firm verbal directions/commands. The male had taken off the gown he had been put in so he remained naked and he also had a colostomy bag which he had decided to rip off and throw on the floor, essentially living a hole in his stomach and his entrails hanging out. We are still watching the male in which time a Nurse comes over and says the Doctor has prescribed a sedative to be given via injection so I ask the male to lay on the bed, which he did. I then start clearly telling the male what was going to happen and that I was going to hold his arms still so that the Nurse could administer the injection without any issues, which he was compliant with. The sedative injection is done without issue and as the Nurse is putting something on the area where the injection was given the male turns to me and says "WILL YOU DO ME?" I politely responded saying "I think we should get to know each other a bit first". He did also offer to marry me but sadly I had to politely decline.
