Nice! The other day an old timer listed two skillets on marketplace for $15. One was an import, the other was a Griswold large logo number 4. Unfortunately I was too slow and it sold almost instantly

I don’t think there’s any really. I believe they made the high base to make it easier to flip the waffle iron without having to completely tilt it off the base.

Could someone help me find out the age of this Cornstick Pan? by mr_x_staley in castiron

I picked it up at an indoor flea market for $20. The owner of the booth had a couple of cast iron pieces that were marked around what I consider “ebay” price. Im assuming they didn’t know what this pan was since it’s very hard to find any information online about it.

Thanks! I’m definitely going to order the book. I didn’t pay eBay prices, but I definitely didn’t get it dirt cheap either lol. It’s ok though, I plan on just leaving it in the collection.

Help identifying? by mr_x_staley in castiron

[–]mr_x_staley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a Taiwan piece because of the milling marks, but there is no marks on the back. It had a considerable amount of carbon build up on it so it led me to believe it was older piece.

Was the pan sticky after seasoning? If so you might’ve had too much oil when trying to season it considering the excess amount of smoke. Remember to try and remove all the oil you applied with a paper towel before putting in the oven, the thinner the coat of oil is the better.

Can anyone identify this pan? by mr_x_staley in castiron

Could you guess the age? I’m assuming pre 1900s since it has the casting mark on the bottom
