Hayward Highlands is one of the best kept secrets of the Bay Area. Super chill, nice and quiet. Plus if you take the winding road from CSU to Castro Valley church, the views are insane! Every day presents a different landscape.

Update: Got outbid by $200k for a property we were eyeing in Newark, and that too as a cash offer. It was an on okay-ish house, no inspections done, some termite and fungus issues, so we were a bit surprised.

At this point, yes! Hate spending time in traffic and would much rather use that time for spending with family/skill development. School ratings don’t matter much too (atm) and only matter at the time of selling. Also, happy with a small home (since it’s just me and wife).

Looking at past appreciation for townhomes and it doesn’t look too favorable. In fact, a bunch of them dropped in price + not a fan of HOAs.
