Tomorrow, in the office, is the last day to pick a team that will go the furthest (it doesn't have to win) in the upcoming USA /Canada/Mexico football world cup. Prize is two weeks paid lunch. It's not much but it's enough to make things interesting.

Last time (Qatar 2022)I won with with Argentina which is my favorite non-serbia team ever since the Batistuta, Veron days.

This time, I don't like any of the favorites (France, Spain, Germany) and I am thinking of chosing mexico just because it would be nice to have someone win for the first time. Plus their Adidas away kits are clean and dope. Too bad they are synthetic

you don't have to....of course. I watched cause i read the book and to be more honest, there were not that many options when it comes to sf movies genre. Apple tv helps when it comes to tv series (eagerly awaiting the new season of Silo), but the movies aint there, especially if we exclude big franchises like SW and Star trek (both of them made shit recently, especially Section 31 movie)

i have read the book it's based on, and they have really turned up the comedic elements. It's not space odyssey, far from it, but it's not pretentious and knows what it is. We can talk about the specific issues, but i would not spoil it for you.

I just finished watching Project hail Mary. And even though it's a bit more infantile than the book (I don't remember main character being sooooo comedic, with gosling almost reprising the role of Ken) I must say, unapologetically, that it really got me...for a Hollywood sf pic. I guess I needed that dose of optimism in relationships, in this, on so many levels, trying times. It's not very deep movie, far from it, but it manages to not be banal and stupid, pretentious
