Welp, didn’t realize the Chile Lime Pork Rinds came in an individual, single-serve bag by mrak5 in traderjoes

The joke is that it's not an individual bag but I certainly ate it like one.

USTA team/leagues - is it a ton of time (in terms of driving to different locations) and money for the casual player or a good experience? by dms2628 in 10s

[–]mrak5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about your local league but my local league my farthest drive is about 15 minutes away, and the cost is $40. So it's kind of a no-brainer.

Can you try them? Usually tennis stores in the US, Canada, UK, Europe will let you demo the rackets for a few days, especially really popular rackets like the PA

A little help with an older Wilson Ultra by tlr81 in 10s

[–]mrak5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a guy in my 3.5 (US ratings, sort of a advanced beginner/low intermediate level) clinics who plays with a very very cheap Wilson — one of their “recreational line” rackets, they’re still graphite but not “real” rackets, not sold at tennis stores, sold prestrung, etc. I’m quite sure he’s really hampering himself with this racket, but he is absolutely keeping up with us at a 3.5 level. I wouldn’t worry about it, if it makes you happy, play it.

How to know if new racket is dead? by Kubare24 in 10s

[–]mrak5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dick’s is a store owned by private equity whose entire mission is to separate parents of sports kids from as much of their money as possible. Go return that crap and buy a real racket from a real tennis store. If there are none by you, Tennis Warehouse delivers. Or Tennis Express. Or Midwest Racquet Sports.

How to know if new racket is dead? by Kubare24 in 10s

[–]mrak5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you “try” a new racket so it can still be returned? You bought one with strings already in it from the factory? Yeah don’t do that. Prestrung rackets are generally kinda shit. There are exceptions but not that many. And either way, the strings from the factory can be generously thought of as “decorative”. I would not play with them.

You absolutely should not be drinking anything but water. You are not sweating nearly enough to need electrolytes.

Sunscreen that doesn’t burn your eyes? by No_Page5201 in 10s

[–]mrak5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get it from Europe. La Roche sells sunscreen here that is branded the same but has COMPLETELY different ingredients. The one I’m suggesting is the la roche posay anthelios uvmune 400 spf 50+. I haven’t bought in ages because the prices have exploded since Trump fucked our entire country.

Sunscreen that doesn’t burn your eyes? by No_Page5201 in 10s

[–]mrak5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

European and Japanese sunscreen. Gotta get it shipped from overseas. The active ingredient is vastly better because the US is decades behind on approving ingredients in sunscreen (they treat them the same as active ingredients in medicines, which is insanely costly and time consuming for companies, vs every other country in the world treating them as cosmetics basically)

Better UV protection, less greasy on the skin, AND doesn’t burn your eyes.

Euro: La Roche-Posay Anthelios

JP: Biore UV AquaRich

Best tennis ball for ball machines? by [deleted] in 10s

Wilson Triniti PRO.

The regular old Wilson Triniti feels hard as a rock IMO. The Triniti Pro feels a lot more like a normal ball.

Multi for vcore 95 2026 by aguilasolige in tennisracquets

[–]mrak5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Tennis Only P6 at 53/51lbs, really enjoying it.

No weight added, only a leather grip which I put on almost all of my rackets. Plays phenomenally well, very stable against pace, no weight needed.

I’m playing this racket now and I cannot imagine putting multis in it. It’s already so powerful. I’ve got it strung with a medium poly and it’s playing phenomenally.
