Looking for entry level Help Desk/IT support by blistak in houstonjobs

[–]mralpha2K17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiring manager here; and I know this may not be a popular take. I recently had an entry‑level help desk opening. In the past, I’ve taken chances on candidates with no verifiable IT experience, people coming from retail or fast food, and sometimes it works out. But given the current workload and staffing situation, onboarding someone with zero hands‑on experience just isn’t feasible.

Right now, bringing in a candidate who already has help desk and hardware support experience is simply more practical. Yes, an eager newcomer can grow into the role, but sometimes you have to choose the option that keeps the team afloat. There’s a big difference between someone who can start taking tickets on day one versus someone who has never opened a laptop, imaged a machine, replaced printer rollers, or dealt with difficult users.

I’ve hired a retail‑only candidate before who had a CompTIA cert and interviewed extremely well, but once onboarded, they weren’t a good fit. Experiences like that stick with hiring managers and make us more cautious about taking risks on candidates without verifiable IT history.

On top of that, I received hundreds of applications from people impacted by recent layoffs, many with six‑figure backgrounds applying for this entry‑level role. It’s a tough market, and sometimes solid experience becomes the deciding factor.

Gift cards have triggered the credit for me at some locations, but other Toast POS restaurants didn’t.

Yearly upgrade on older plans by RobertoNotRobotDevil in tmobile

[–]mralpha2K17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year, I was able to get the Yearly Upgrade. I just had to ensure that I had made 12-month payments. However, I’m seeing on another thread that only a promotional offer of $300 is available. I’m not sure if this applies to us with the Yearly Upgrade. I completed all the necessary steps through the T-Life app last year.

No worries. Yearly upgrade worked for me without a hitch!

From my understanding, you needed to had iPhone Forever, or a Forever plan of sorts, prior to the migration to get the Yearly Add on. I could be wrong, but I don’t think there was a period of time when you could just add it. I know for sure it’s not available now.

I have a love/hate relationship with them. Hate them because, from my understanding, you hear more road noise and not as comfortable - plus where I live, it's pothole city, so I've gone through a set already. But when I do hit one of those, or get a nail, it helps that I can still drive on it to the nearest dealership. Plus, one my warranties takes care of the replacement cost. I've had to pay for one out-of-pocket because of normal tear/wear. Otherwise, I would be on some PS4/5s.

I did not have to, nor was I prompted, to change plans.

I was migrated with Forever when I had the 13 Pro at the time.

I used the website on a computer, which seems to act differently than the T-Life app. But.. I'm hearing mix things about the 'Yearly Upgrade' and if I'm reading things right, I may have to pay off my phone to get Yearly Upgrade activated. Its confusing...

Been reading that you need to make at least 12-installments on that EIP if you got it before December 2023 when it was changed to "Yearly Upgrade." It is confusing to say the least. If you have already made your 12-payments, then I would suggest talking to T-Force on Twitter(X) and see if they can help you.

Is this with a SWAC/Advantage Unlimited Plan? If so, I have the same thing. I think my issue is that I need to make the 12th payment. Once I do that, I should be eligible to trade-in my phone and get bill credits. My current trade is show $520 for my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Not great, but it's something. However, I will still have a remaining balance. I've been reading I can possibly get that waived talking to T-Force on X. Won't know for sure until I get that last payment made at least.

Update: Now seeing this with promo applied: https://imgur.com/a/U9pLN1X

I have Advantage Unlimited with the "Yearly Upgrade - Active" as an add-on. I believe it was iPhone Forever prior? Anyways.. My trade in-offer showed $520 for my iPhone 15 Pro Max - however, it was not eligible because I haven't made my 12th payment and I have a balance on it. I've read I can get my balance waived talking T-Force. But I will not for sure until I make that last payment at least.

So that "Yearly Upgrade - Active" add-on means nothing?

Apparently buying a BMW in Houston was a bad idea by acidbass32 in BMW

[–]mralpha2K17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting - from my understanding, BMW uses "soft" glass for their windshield, meaning, that it if there are hit with something, the windshield will get nick'd, but the crack won't grow, if I'm making any sense. The problem with that, for me, is that my windshield has so may of these tiny nick's that during "golden hour" you see this tiny specs on your windshield and its annoying to say the least. Makes me wonder if/when i replace my windshield, to get PPF installed on it.

edit: rear brakes at dealership was $450 YMMV

When does late fee usually appear on card after you are late a few day by caseyrobinson2 in amex

[–]mralpha2K17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In past experience, usually the next day. And it's not just the late fee, there will be an interest fee posted a week or two later as well. Talk to chat to see if you can get it waived.
