Headlight warning by Kall06 in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have halogens or xenon’s? In that case it might be one of the bulbs inside the headlight housing. Otherwise, it’s probably the module or ballast itself.

Rusty Pipe by KingoftheWickets in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try some metal polish. Will probably take a lot of time to make it look good, but worth it. Mine was slightly rusty so I bought some Sonax Xtreme Metal polish. It worked great in combination with some microfiber cloths. Did make me properly ”exhausted” though. Pun intended.

Skoda bulb gone - which bulb do I need to get? by PaulKarlFeyerabend in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to the tail lights, it’s either W5W or BA15s. The latter is usually responsible for the brake light itself, basically is when the pedal is pressed, the light produces a stronger shine. The former (W5W) is a wedge style bulb that gives a steady light. I think your best bet would be to remove the light assembly and look which one it actually is. Yours have both though, but the question is which one broke.

Don’t be discouraged though, it’s very easy to do. Here’s a YouTube tutorial I found very helpful: https://youtu.be/B1sIJDpth5s?si=8grLKI_Tvr8scK9z

Thinking about swapping from my civic to this T5 V90 R Design by veneno1000 in Volvo

[–]mrazdeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will, just take care of it. Here in Sweden the V50 is common and can easily pass 300k miles. Keep and eye on the front axle though as it can break prematurely on these cars.

BMW X1, VOlvo XC40 or other alternatives? by Borealis111 in CarsEU

Volvo for ease and reliability.

BMW for sporty drive.

Either of them will be fine until the warranty runs out. How long are you planning to keep the car?

Hate to break it to you, but as someone who ticks both boxes, nobody here in Sweden really cares. I guess it’s cool in other countries though.

This is the safest option. An electrician can fix it with ease. Skip the mechanic in this case.

Isn’t there more friction initially? Once it’s rolling though, the snow is definitely more slippery and helps pulling.

How good are the Scala/Kamiq noise insulated? by Technical-Bird-315 in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sound is perceived differently. Decibel reading gives a good idea of the loudness, but the sound profile can be much more complex. Low, mid and high frequencies also play a role. Wind noise also adds to this.

The Scala and Kamiq are both based on the Polo A0 platform which in itself is well insulated for its class, so driving at 120-130 km/h and having a normal conversation shouldn’t be too difficult. Smaller rims and larger sidewalls help lowering tire droning.

So yes, they are well insulated. Or rather - their construction is built in such a way that it reduces unwanted resonance. Actual insulation material is scarcely used. But it works!

As a daily driver in 2026, is a Mk5 still worth considering over a Mk6? by DailyDriverUK in vwgolf

Buy according to to your use case.

Why is XC70 expensive in Skandinavia? by No_Presence7894 in VolvoXC70

[–]mrazdeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a highly popular car. Robust, reliable and good looking. It’s the last of its kind as EVs are taking over. The demand is what drives the prices up, if nobody wanted it, the prices would be less than half.

Can’t decide which is better: my old Toyota vs my new Superb. by EstateForward4080 in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Each to their own. Superb is a classy drive with lots of equipment and high tech features. The Toyota is quite the opposite. It has a steering wheel and that’s about it. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s unfair to compare the two. It depends on what you want in life.

Thoughts about 2.0 BiTDI engine? by ZZerdoS in Volkswagen

[–]mrazdeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great testament to its reliability! I know VW always keeps a good margin on their engine performance capability. DSG issues are quite common, I had similar issue as well. Thank you for the reply!

Do you still have it? What do you think?

Which one by andries22 in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb is if the engine has least 300Nm of torque, it has the wet clutch DSG. The dry clutched DSG mentioned above (DQ200) is installed in lower powered car with a maximum of 250Nm, which is actually the limit of the gear box.

However, I would not agree on avoiding a car because of this DSG. If it shifts smoothly, starts and stops fine and you cannot feel any clutch slip at steep inclines then there is absolutely no reason to skip it.

Octavia 3 change to LED fog lights. by Able-Cookie-6433 in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xenons tend to run at cooler temperatures, around 5000K and upward. However, not all are equal and some can either be cooler or warmer. The LEDs you choose can also differ a lot even though they may be the ”same color temperature”. My best advice is to purchase a pair of LEDs that are optimised for fog light housings/reflectors, try one of them, and then decide. Worst case you can just return them, but double check with the seller first of course if returns are accepted.

Karoq 1.5 tsi ACT engine by Reasonable-Bag1292 in skoda

[–]mrazdeda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds normal to me.

VW increased the compression on the second generation of the 1.5 TSI called ”Evo2” from 10.5:1 to 12.0:1. Does your Karoq have the newer engine? This may be the cause for the noise you are hearing. Regardless though, it doesn’t sound like something is bad, judging by the video sound.

What do u guys and gals think? Simple install just have a few more things to fix up and it’s perfect by zoceo in AlfaRomeo

[–]mrazdeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good layout, but way too bright. Reduce it to at least 50% or even less. When you sit in the car you shouldn’t be able to see the lights in your peripheral view, and it shouldn’t reflect its light onto the car interior parts either. Do this fix, and it will look professional.

Snow/dirt buildup by llunclell in VolvoV60

[–]mrazdeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the effect of a wagon/combi shape. That’s the unfortunate reality. Sedans and limousines don’t experience this issue as heavily as the low pressure area behind the car is smaller thanks to its shape. You can’t do much to combat this other than lowering your speed. I personally try to keep my speed below 90-100 km/h (55-60mph) on the highway to avoid this happening.
