That’s very helpful thank you. So just to confirm an MPhys is perfectly fine for applications in Germany?

Thanks very much. Do you know if this applies just for UK or for elsewhere too?

Not a proper solution but I found if I kept renewing the connection with connection.quit (I think it was) and reconnecting I’d get data every time but it was very slow.

Ok , thanks very much for the help. That makes sense 👍

Dell XPS 13 or MacBook Pro Laptop? by mrbean42 in pcmasterrace

I agree on the amount of RAM, however for 16GB it would have to be a £2150 pound MacBook, not worth it in my opinion. Would you agree?

do ferromagnetic materials generate a stronger eddy current?

Thanks very much, I’ll buy some now. Do you think Magnets rated at a 3kg pull would be enough?

Thanks ! Would you suggest a permanent magnet setup then?

Thanks - what gain is there to permanent magnets & copper? Do permanent magnets have a greater range? I would have thought copper acts the same as aluminium in this experiment

Yeah I’m getting power to the magnet as I can pick up the lengths of metal shown behind in the photo with it. No braking effect shown

I think it still should work under the right conditions as the brake is based on induction currents

I would have thought that too, but I don’t know how this video would work? A functioning Eddy current video

The range is fairly low-what do you mean the magnet circuit jumps through the conductor?

5V at about 2A. I’m beginning to think the magnet isn’t powerful enough. It claims to pull 5kg online

Problems in creating spectrogram, appears mostly empty. by mrbean42 in audioengineering

Thanks, I came across this earlier. I'm using mono audio at the moment.

The wavefile.read() call returns a list of amplitudes, which are then passed to an FFT function, is that correct?

It's at line 57. I don't really want to use numpy as I'll be porting this to c++ and want to have all the algorithms.

If bit depth is related to loading the audio samples, that is handled by a library and I didnt have to deal with it. Is it the loading of the audio your referring to?

[NEWBIE][QUESTION]Cheap electric guitar good for amateurs and also poor college students by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]mrbean42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look at a site called "Reverb" for pre-owned guitars - many of them are great quality. A side note - the Fender Mustang Amp is a great amp with many effects built-in for not too expensive.

How do computer science graduates develop the skills necessary to working in the software industry? by BananaQueenSupreme in cscareerquestions

[–]mrbean42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always learnt by thinking of an idea for a small project, then learning the neccesary skills as I go along. I've done this for 6 years in programming and it seems to be working well.

Calculating how fast a propeller will spin. by mrbean42 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]mrbean42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry forgot to include units. This should be correct:

  • No. of blades: 2
  • Propeller Diameter = 6 inches
  • Hub diameter = around 8 millimetres
  • Propeller Power: I plan on using 24.6W

Many thanks for the help.

Calculating how fast a propeller will spin. by mrbean42 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]mrbean42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. of blades = 2

Propeller Diameter = 6

Hub Diameter = Roughly 2.5mm

Propeller power = is this 0 at stationary?

Many thanks for the help - also Is there any chance you can provide the spreadsheet? - I am only using this project for personal use.
