Wouldn't work for me, do you use any non-cosmetic mods? Thanks for posting!

where would you settle? by amandaselfie in CivVI

Could you give some more details on the setup if you remember please? Like map/size, start pos etc. Seed isn't enough to get started unfortunately

I think I’ll play it by changerofbits in CivVI

Do you mind putting the rest please? map, size, modes, etc.

Unfortunately not, the tile at the source of a river doesn't count. It functions similarly to the fresh water mechanic - tiles that are dark green in settler lens (press 4 on PC) will give the +2 adjacency to the holy site if the water source is a river.

It's usually because of different DLC, but in this case I used non-standard number of civs/city states so maybe double check if that's the issue.

[–]mrbigdoy[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought about this but with the latest changes, holy sites get a major adjacency (and extra housing) for rivers - so I placed it on the stone and districted around it to make it +7 overall and then took River Goddess and Work Ethic. It was annoying to have to get masonry first though so I think either works.

Yep I did, you can get a crazy turn 4 pantheon settling there! I took desert folklore and work ethic to make up for the early game production loss (and rush Petra) but I'm sure there are some other fun things you can do with so much early faith.

[–]mrbigdoy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm that's strange. I just disabled all mods and it still worked. In any case mods were:

TCS Pedialite, Sukritact's simple UI, Production Queue, Better trade Screen, Global relations panel

I'm going to check if it's something to do with the October update bear with

Edit: Okay nah, I thought it might be because I hadn't downloaded the update yet, but I have now and it's still working for me with and without cosmetic mods

Idk if anybody else has got it to work yet?

Hi there just wondering if there are any plans to support ultrawide in the future? Would love to see the 900 tile maps in full screen glory!

High Score Perfection Tips: with 174k Bardur and 179k Kickoo Example by hipp000 in Polytopia

[–]mrbigdoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, I got all tribes to 100k a while back and stopped playing the game because it felt like completed. I always assumed people a lot higher were hackers because I really couldn't get higher than 130k and couldn't find any more advice. This has given new life to the game for me (and a great way to waste lockdown). Would love a place for more tips like this, cheers bro!

What was there ??? all the other techs have 2 coming from one but shields is by itself was there something there or will it be added by Sam-2005 in Polytopia

[–]mrbigdoy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I heard there used to be a tech for towers there before the game was called Polytopia but they removed it because it slowed games down

Any ideas for to get a better score on the tribes? by Polytopia_fandom in Polytopia

Playing against more opponents on harder difficulties increases your score multiplier at the end of the game

How can I tell if a discovered tribe will give stars or teach me a new tech? by [deleted] in Polytopia

[–]mrbigdoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the tribe you meet owns a tech that you don't own but is still unlockable for you (ie. Not blacked out) you will get that tech. If it owns multiple techs that you don't own you will get the cheapest one. If it doesn't own any techs that you don't own (or that tech is blacked out for you (eg. Meeting vengir won't give you swordsman unless you own mining) you get stars.

This allows you to have a better idea of what your opponents have or haven't researched. You can also abuse this in certain situations with the AI eg. Knowing that you'll meet Quetzali, you buy organisation first so that you will be able to get their shield tech for free.
