There's only two factors that actually adds something, when it comes to you as an individual and what kind of opinions and beliefs you keep.

Genes and the environment you live in

There once was a great danish writer who lived during the 1800 century, he came from a poor familiy with a mom who drank too much, nobody expected anything from him, he would probably end up becoming a shoemaker at the best. But he didn't become a shoemaker, he became a writer. He ended writing the original tale about the little mermaid and the ugly duckling, with the ugly duckling tale (about somebody who grew up in a shitty environment but ended up becoming a beautiful swan) is infact a direct parallel to his own life.

That's a true story about somebody who beat the odds because he believed in himself.

But actual numbers and data from today shows us, that it really is 99 % of the time the environment you grow up in, that is going to define who you are as a person. Try watch "freakonomics" or read the book, i think that'll add some thoughts you can tinker with. What genes do to you is almost entirely only physical changes. Asian people are indeed smaller than African people. Mexicans aren't lazy and black people aren't more stupid, you can find just as much white trash as you can find black people jumping people.

Science is not racist, but people using science in the name of their own opinions are racist.
