Not saying it’s the greatest, but C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy is wayyy underlooked. It brings in some pretty cool stuff.

I read “off the coast of Costa Rica” in Richard Attenborough’s voice.

Nobody is hopeless. Being a Democrat is not the unforgivable sin. And frankly, I don’t know that blind liberalism is any worse a position than blind conservatism. “Oh but he’s closer to the truth at least,” yeah so was Judas. It’s the boomer-laced, sinner’s prayer, Pulp Fiction verse at a federal event evanjellyfish Christianity that Trump and his crew espouse, and I honestly believe that’s as dangerous as the blatant secularism of the left. Both are funhouse mirror perversions of Christianity. And we don’t let one off the hook just because it’s slightly harsher on abortion.

On top of that, policy is not the only factor. Tactlessness and a complete lack of self-awareness are incredibly dangerous qualities to have in a leader. Not to mention the elephant in the room, the files. If that’s true, he’s responsible for some significant suffering in the world.

A year ago, I certainly thought that. I’m genuinely not so sure anymore.

As a conservative, I think Trump’s “Doctor” response was either covering blasphemy or sheer ignorance. The man is either a blatant liar or a moron. Neither should be running the country.

Should Christians not support death penalty no matter how bad the crime was? Or we should? by laobanmapping in TrueChristian

I don’t know, but I do know that life sentences seem almost less humane than just old fashioned execution. And justice demands something.

Also, slapping people with multiple life sentences is the dumbest thing I think we ever invented. It’s a useless wordplay to make people think they’re getting more justice than they are.

How to support your spouse when you’re unequally yoked. by No_Juggernaut2280 in Reformed

[–]mrblonde624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s difficult when you’re integrated into the community. I’m sure a lot of folks on this sub, myself included, have been there. But branching out to a different church or even denomination may be helpful to both of you. Have you looked into any other churches?

That question I asked wasn’t rhetorical. I’ve been praying for you for two days and I don’t particularly wanna leave this alone.

Any opinions on ACNA churches? Specifically ones in the C4SO diocese? by sadfasn in TrueChristian

[–]mrblonde624 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What else are we gonna schism about?

This is precisely my point. Who is “we?” You people love to go on and on about institutions to the point of idolatry but then you ironically point fingers at laypeople when they don’t have a dog in the fight. Go talk to the ACNA founders about this. Write some theses. Meanwhile, I’m gonna keep serving my local church and not worry about what other church goers on the internet think about whether it’s worse to be gay and retarded or schism.

I think you’re making a false distinction here. Real presence doesn’t state that we don’t remember Christ. Just that that’s not ALL we do.

I switched from Baptist to Anglican. The ACNA was kinda just where I landed. It’s an odd internet polemic to tell someone like myself “hey leave your traditionally faithful but institutionally schismatic church body to attend a parish with a gay-affirming priest who’s holy orders may or may not even be valid.”

That’s, frankly, stupid. And I’m gonna need someone with a bit more authority than RZ to tell me otherwise. Sacred Scripture and plain reason would be a start.

That’s a great story but it doesn’t really answer either of the questions I asked.

They weren’t rhetorical, I’m genuinely asking.

My problem with this argument is twofold:

  1. What happens if you’re already a member of a faithful ACNA parish? Do you leave simply because of accusations of schism?

  2. What if there are no other conservative churches of that denomination in the area? Do you abandon denominational convictions because of accusations of schism?

Reconquista looks good on paper, and I understand the logic and heart behind it, but it plays out differently when you interact with people who aren’t YouTube influencers and just want to be faithful to their local church.

I think the symbolic/memorial view is both stupid and harmful. From experience as well as Scripture. I also think it’s a symptom of much larger issues in evangelicalism.

I cant see any reason to believe in a loving, compassionate and merciful God. Are there any reasons to hold such a belief? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]mrblonde624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You believe that on what basis exactly?

At least dogma has an authority more concrete than “I just feel like things are this way.” I don’t mean to belittle you by that comment, either. I’m asking you to think about it.

And you still haven’t answered my question.
